Anime Question

Okay, this club constantly makes me question my ideas of correct grammar, so I have to ask this question...

So, well informed and intelligent anime fans that you are, is it correct to refer to an an anime character as "an anime"? When I saw a while ago, I assumed some moron had made a grammatical error, but it's been happening WAY too much lately. So...is it correct?

Yeah I thought the same as you.
I am pretty sure it is not correct.

I guess when one person saw it, they started to use that term too. But it isn't correct. Anime is referring to the show itself.

If you want to talk about the character, you say, "An anime character". XD

You're right. It's incorrect.
"An anime" would refer to the show, not the character. "An anime character" would, of course, refer to the character. I think it's just a popular sort of thing among some anime fans, I think...

Then it has been confirmed by two users that I consider intelligent. I will now proceed to tell off any users that use the term "an anime" to describe a character in any future question. :3 Yays! Thankees!

Actually the times I've seen the question,I assumed they meant a certain anime until I saw,not a character, well that is until I saw the answers, then again in the english language,it wouldn't make sense...,but I don't think it would be correct because "an anime" refers to the show, which is (as I said before),if they wanted to talk about a certain anime character then they should add "character" but I guess it's became popular among some anime fans.
