I have a feeling that when Nightwing said "No unessacary risk to the team." was a reminder of a day when he was leader and during that mission, Artemis and Barry died.
They will be back don't worry. I don't know what happened in those five years but they will come back or we will find out where they are. Remember the time when Artemis was at her first day at Gotham Academy and Dick shows up and takes a picture of them and he says "We'll laugh about this some day" I'm pretty sure they will...
Greg Weissman (Co-Producer of Young Justice) said we will revisit the old team. Not sure how or when, Greg didnt expand on it. But we will. Although I believe the lack and orange striped hero on Zatanna's floating pad is Tigress (Artemis).
Ok, I'm gonna rant....in ....3....2....2 and a half.....1...
I have a couple of ideas about Wally and Arty (IDK squat about Kaldur)
1) Remember how serious Dick/Nightwing told Tim/Robin "Just don't die ok?" and "No unnecessary risks to the team" What if NW learned this from experience like when he was leader WALLY DIED? And maybe Artemis was dating him and was sad or angry and quit the team. So there would be no contact. That would explain why there is no info about Arty and Wally ANYWHERE.
2) This is slightly less sad. Bart/Flash dies and Wally/KF takes up the mantle becoming Flash. And Artemis becomes Tigress, the villain for some reason....IDK
3) THE DIRECTER IS MEAN AND HATES SPITFIRE FANS
4) Bart quit being Flash so Wally became Flash and Artemis became a new hero.
I think Wally and Artemis got married and had a family and Quit the JL until later, when their kids are older and Aqualad is down in Atlantis doing Atlantian stuff.
We saw what happened to Aqualad this past weekend. We also got an answer regarding at least one team member death, but it was not one of the original members. It's possible that Artemis and KF died on a mission too, but I think it would have been kinda cold of Dick, Connor, and Kaldur not to at least mention them during their conversation. My guess is that they're still alive unless

After Tula (aqua girl) died and aqua lad found out who his dad really was (episode 3 of season 2) he joined his father . Wally and Artemis quit the team and are living together and are in college
Aqualad became bad team up with his father black mantha ( not sure of the name but something like that)
Artemis and wally quit the team and began to live together and to study.
Aqualad turned for some reason, because he set up the bomb that blew up Melina Island (sorry if I spelled it wrong) I'm still confused why, since there was a 5 year jump.
Wally and Artemis are still dating! :D
They are currently in college I believe, Wally has given up the"superhero game" as Red Arrow calls it. Artemis, I'm assuming she gave it up too. I also believe they are living together.
Artemis:she 'dies' in season 2 episode 7 to beccome tigress
Wally:he retires and he dies in season 2 episode 20
Aqualad: i dont give a s*** or a f*** about him hes a useless c***
Artemis and Wally left the league to go to college and live together. Every once in awhile they return to young justice if they need help. Aqualad leaves the team and goes undercover with his evil father collecting intel on his father's plans. Wally, Nighthawk (I think that's his name)/ old robin, and aqualad help fake artemis death so aqualad would gain his fathers loyalty.
