Manhattan,
May 7, 09:08 EST
The figure clothed in black and silver landed gently on the rooftop in a squatting position. Her hood covered her face as she stood up and looked around.
"Clear."
"Good, but the police spotted you, they're closing in." the voice came over her comm.
"Alright, can you get me an accident?"
"Yeah, two minutes. Can you hold out that long?"
"Please."
The line cut and Alexa grinned, bending down and starting to cut into the roof of a building. She was thankful Sam had sent the electricity user to Manhattan to assist her. With the police and the baddies chasing her, things were getting tight. Especially considering she was secretly dating the detective in charge of arresting her.
As soon as the hole was cut, Nightress dropped down into the building and crept silently down two flights of stairs. She picked the lock on a door and crept into the abandoned school's biology room.
"I've found the plant." Nightress said, touching the sickly yellow flower with her gloved hand gently. "Prepare for tele—"
"Step away from the plant."
Alexa slowly raised her hands and turned around.
"Isn't that a little skimpy for a police officer?" she asked.
"I'm not a police officer."
Alexa felt something slam into her from behind. "I'm here for my precious baby though."
Alexa sighed and passed out.

Revenge was sitting at the computer in his base, typing frantically on the computer. He was about to make a breakthrough on his stocks when an alert popped up on his screen.
"Damn it!" he exclaimed in frustration, slamming his fist on the table. He read the caller ID and sighed. "Yes, Alexa?"
"Revenge?"
"Who is—Brooke?"
"Yeah, I need your help."
"Why can't you talk to Alexa?"
"She is the problem."
Revenge sat up. "Go on."
"She was tracking down someone who had used a vegetative poison on the Mayor last night when she was cut off. She hasn't responded since."
Revenge sat and mused for a while. "What exactly was she doing again?"
"She was looking for the only thought to be extinct plant that can be used as an antidote, but that meant extinguishing the species forever."
"Right, I'm on my way."
"Revenge!"
"Yes?"
"I'm not sure if Alexa told you or not, but the police over here don't like people in tights and capes."
"I know." Revenge growled.
Manhattan
Two Hours Later..
A tall man of african-american descent walked through the crowded office looking at some paperwork. He managed to navigate his way through the human sea and into his office. The door slammed suddenly and he jumped, spinning around and dropping his papers.
Red Revenge had his hand on the door and was looking at the detective.
"Great, more freaks in tights." The detective said, bending over to pick up his papers off the ground.
Revenge walked over to the detective, whom he towered over, and grabbed his shoulder. "I need your help."
"With what? Blowing up the other half of the Big Apple?"
"With finding Nightress."
"Like I'm going to help you."
"You don't have much of a choice."
"What? You gonna…beat me up in the middle of the police station?!"
Revenge bent down. "Happened to a guy just like you. Drop the attitude or your boss discovers how you get information on these heroes."
"Vigilantes"
Revenge growled and the cop stuck out his lower lip.
"Detective, I—" the officer froze in the doorway and looked at Revenge.
"There's no one in here." Revenge said lowly.
"Gee, I wonder where the Detective went." The cop said, closing the door behind him.
"Alright, fine." The Deective replied. "What do you need?"
"The file on the Mayor's poisoning."
"That's classified."
Revenge narrowed his eyebrows.
"Which means you get special access, right."
Revenge grinned and picked up the file the detective handed him. He read over it quickly and touched his ear-piece. "What building did you say again?"
The detective looked up from slipping stuff into his desk. "So you talk to yourself too?"
Revenge glared at the man and confirmed what Brooke said from the other end. "Can you meet me there?"
"Yeah!" Brooke replied.
Revenge tossed something at the detective. He opened it up and read it. It was an address. "What—"
Revenge was gone.
"Damn those stupid little—"
Revenge glanced down the street as the blonde-haired girl he had met just a few weeks ago walked up next to him in jeans, a tee-shirt, and dark sunglasses.
"Nice civvies." She noted, glancing at Revenge's jacket, jeans, and boots along with his hat, hoodie, and sunglasses. "Little overdone though?"
Before the Black Hero could reply, a car drove up and the detective got out. Brooke immediately dropped to a fighting stance, but Revenge put a hand on her shoulder and she stood up cautiously.
"Good to see you figured out the 'come alone' part." Revenge said.
"Very funny. What are we doing here?"
Revenge peeled off his jacket and pants along with his hoodie to reveal his uniform. "Investigating." He tossed the detective some gloves. "Here, Daniels."
The detective frowned, but slid the gloves on anyway. He followed Revenge and Brooke inside the building. They ascended several flights of stairs.
The building was creepy in the middle of the day. Most abandoned buildings they show in the movies look like witches turned over the tables after everyone was gone. This was much more scary. Everything was in the exact place it had been the day the school had closed. The emptiness of the place made Brooke edge just a little closer to Revenge. Their footsteps echoed as Revenge stepped off of the stairway and onto the third floor.
"The science and biology level." He announced.
"Why would you abandon something like this?" Daniel wondered aloud. "I mean it's obvious it was a huge and prestigious school."
"The school got an ego and spent more money than they had. They went bankrupt and had to close." Revenge said.
"What are you? The all-knowing genie?"
"Hush!"
"Sorry I offend—"
"Hush!"
The three stood in silence for a minute before Revenge moved over to a closet and yanked the door open. Two mice ran out and a skeleton fell on Revenge. Brooke squealed, Revenge let out a startled sound, and the detective jumped back.
"Ah," Revenge said, pulling the skeleton off of him and shoving it back in the closet. "Sorry bout that."
Brooke and the Detective sighed. Revenge tried to regain his composure and move along the edge of the wall. Brooke looked around before her phone beeped. Revenge and the Detective stared at her.
"Oops?" she asked, quickly turning the phone to mute.
The Black Hero sighed. "If anyone was here, they've heard us coming by now."
Brooke travelled ahead and peeked around the corner of the hallway. Her face turned deathly pale and she motioned for Revenge and the Detective to hurry up. Red Revenge saw why she had turned so pale when he too saw what was around the computer.
"Eew." Daniel said.
Brooke looked as if she was going to puke.
Skeletons hung on the wall, large vines wrapped around them and what looked like pieces of flesh on the floor.
"Are they…real?" Daniel asked as Brooke looked away.
Revenge scanned. "The plants are, the skeletons aren't."
"And the flesh?"
"Don't ask."
The three made their way down the hall and into a biology room filled with plotted plants. Brooke pointed to a hole in the roof. "That's where she came in."
"That's vandalism!" Daniel exclaimed.
"It was a hole in the roof of an abandoned building or the mayor's life." Brooke said, placing her hands on her hips.
Daniel sighed. Revenge walked around the room and looked at the different plants.
"One was taken." He said.
"How do you know?" Daniel demanded. "They all look the same to me."
"Come here." Revenge said. Brooke and Daniel walked up behind him. Revenge pointed to a spot on the desk. "See this? There was a pot here. Whoever it was tried to cover up their tracks by smoothing out the dust."
"How did you see that?" Brooke asked, looking up at him.
"Im..err.. Im a bit of a fan of Sherlock Holmes."
Daniel raised an eyebrow before turning around and looking, first at the hole in the roof, then at the floor beneath it. "And I can tell you which way Nightress went."

Holly was trying to get done with her history book for school the next day when her phone rang. She picked it up without looking at caller ID and answered it. "Yes?"
"Emerald, need your help."
Holly sighed. "What is it?"
"Nightress has been abducted by a super-criminal. I need your help to find her."
Holly snorted. "And why should I help?"
"Please?" Sam added.
Holly sighed again. "I'll be there."
Manhattan
May 8, 20:20 EST
Red Revenge waited on the rooftop as Emerald landed the jet next to him. "No sign." She replied.
"Detective, you having any luck?"
"Negative," the detective replied over his comm Revenge had given him.
"Tezla?"
"Same here. No sign of her."
Holly sat musing on the edge of the plane before her eyes lit up. "Detective!" she said. "Pack your bags! You're going to Gotham City."
Gotham City
May 8, 21:35 EST
Revenge looked at the amusement park. "This, this is her hideout?"
"Well where else?" Emerald asked. "I mean no one would look out here, and if they did, she escapes to the next city and is out of the police's jurisdiction."
"Her plants are acting as intruder detectors." Revenge said.
"I believe the proper term is—"
"Not now." Revenge said. "Detective, hold your position."
Revenge pressed a button on his suit and deposited several small bombs into his hand. He threw them at the amusement park below and they detonated. Smoke filled the area as Revenge and Emerald leaped down. "Tezla, you are go."
The blonde nodded and snuck around the side of the amusement park, placing a gas mask and goggles over her face. She managed to make it to the house before ducking in the window. Poison Ivy had abandoned the facility by now and was inevitably running right towards Revenge. She spotted Alexa on the floor, still unconscious. Brooke knelt next to her mentor and injected a needle into her arm. Alexa sat straight up, her hood flying off.
"Br—"
"Tezla" the blonde corrected. "Detective! We're right here!"
Alexa's eyes widened beneath her mask. "You brought him?!" she hissed.
"Blame Revenge." Brooke replied.
Detective Daniel made his way inside and picked up Nightress with Tezla's help.
"Wait," Nightress said, turning and pointing weakly at the flower. "The antidote."
"I've got it." Tezla said with a determined look on her face. Daniel nodded and dragged Nightress out of the building. The smoke was beginning to dissipate into the dark night. Brooke grabbed the plant and turned around. She ran outside to receive a crowbar to the face.
Harley Quinn's face beamed down at her. "Now I see why puddin' loves this so much!"
"Unh," Tezla said, trying to drag herself to her feet, but was met with another crowbar blow.
"So what are you, blondie? Another of Batsy's playmates?"
Brooke mumbled something.
"What?" Harley asked, leaning down next to the girl.
"I said I'm my own girl."
Brooke grabbed Harley's shirt with both of her hands and electricity arced from them. Joker's lover screamed in pain before collapsing to the ground, smoking. Tezla stood up wearily and stumbled away towards where Nightress was being tended to by Daniels.
"Tezla!" Nightress exclaimed.
"I'm fine, but the clown isn't."
"Joker?!" Daniel exclaimed, looking up.
"Harley Quinn." Brooke spat blood as she felt her broken nose. "This is going to take a lot of make-up to cover up."
Daniel ran off to arrest Harley Quinn while Revenge walked up to the two girls.
"How we doing?" he asked.
"I've faced worse." Alexa replied.
"Horrible." Brooke said immediately afterwards.
Revenge chuckled.
"Where's Ivy?" Alexa asked, standing up.
"She slipped away." Revenge said bitterly. "But I contacted Batman. Did you get the plant?"
"Right here." Tezla said, showing the Black Hero the plant.
"Good, I'll leave the mayor to you and we shall all disappear into the night. But first, I need to speak with you Nightress. Privately."
Brooke raised an eyebrow and tried to keep the down expression from her face as Revenge and her mentor walked off into the distance. They talked for a few minutes, Alexa glancing at Brooke every few minutes. She looked at Revenge one last time and nodded before turning around and walking back to Brooke.
"Grab the plant and lets get back to Manhattan." Nightress said.
By the time the detective got back to the car, all of the heroes were gone.

"Recognized, Tezla. 02. Entry granted."
The blonde walked into the base and pulled off her dark sunglasses. "I really need a pair of tights."
"Agreed." Alexa said, not looking up from the desk.
"Is something wrong?" Brooke asked, walking over and placing a hand on her mentor's shoulder.
"Nah, I'm just thinking."
"About?"
"You."
Brooke raised her eyebrows. "Does it have anything to do with what Revenge talked to you about?"
"Yeah," Alexa said, looking up. "Everything to do with it."
"Well? Are you going to tell me?"
Alexa sighed and stood up. "Revenge mentioned a Black Ops team run by Nightwing and Batman. They go on covert missions for the Justice League. They're all kids between the age of 13 and 18."
"Like…?"
"Robin, Static, Wondergirl, Batgirl, Huntress." Alexa rattled off some of the names. Brooke seemed impressed.
"Are you going to let me go?"
Alexa took a deep breath. "It's not my life to control. It's yours. You decide."
Brooke mused for a minute before shaking her head. "I'll stay with you for a while. I'm not quite ready to move on. Especially not from my best friend."
Alexa turned around, trying to keep her eyes from tearing up too much and hugged Brooke. Brooke returned it.

Sam would be back from patrols and she would have to put on the fake act that all was fine. She knew Sam could see right through it and she didn't know why she kept the façade up at all. Perhaps she didn't want to admit to herself that she wasn't impenetrable, that she wasn't human.
The weather was warming, and bringing change with it.
