I like how it wasn't dumb or tasteless like the romance in most other games.
Most writers think romance is just having one person leap on the other when you don't expect it.
The romance part in FF10 just made me laugh.

Dom and Maria are my top canon couple, which is why I put them on the list. But they're not my all-time favorite video game couple.

My all-time is Gordon Freeman and Alyx Vance from Half-Life 2, plus the released episodes.
Their relationship is beautiful and everyone, including Alyx's own father, can see the connection.
