Twilight vs The Vampire Lestat Question

How can anyone choose?

They're two completely differant stories, both unique and amazing but in completely differant ways.
The only thing they have in common is that they're both vampire stories. (Well not really, but still).
And if you're planning on just saying "because one sucks and the other doesn't" don't even bother replying please. =3

Twilight vs The Vampire Lestat Answers

I'd have to say the choice is really easy. There's the teen cliche vamp-human romance, with sparkling vegie vamps. and then there's a well developed and entirely unique characters of powerful vamps.

There's teen vamp stories and the other is adult vamp stories. And to be honest one does suck andthe other doesnt.

I don't think "they're both amazing" quite is the case in general level of the matter. I bet most people - even if they do like both - are very easly able to make their pick on which they prefer. The chosen one depending on how mature the one choosing, is.

Wants to say; Twilight appeals !!!mostly!!! to young teenagers, who don't yet appreciate and understand the mature and in-depth themese and storylines and psychological depths of The Vampire Lestat, nor care about a character to be as colourful and original, as Lestat de Lioncourt is whereas Edward Cullen isn't.

So, even if you do like both, the choice becomes easy when you give a thought to what things and elements in a character and story you appreciate more.

And for some the choice may be easy also in the what quality writing all in all gets to you. Meyer and Rice are completely from different planets in writing skills. Anne Rice naturally being far superior already for being far more experienced but for other reasons too...

Well, that's my point, they're completely differant stories. I don't understand why people are always comparing the two stories. I understand that you don't like Twilight, and I respect that, and so I'm trying not to take offence to the "Most Twilight fans are imature teenage girls who don't know anything about literature" jab. It's really sad to me though, because I am not at all like most of the fans of Twilight, I don't like Hannah Montana or anything stupid like that, I like poems, and Edgar Allen Poe, and William Shakespeare, and (obviously) Anne Rice novels. I wish that people on both sides of the arguement would, quite frankly, lighten the hell up. I understand that Stephenie Meyer's writing isn't "good". But I love it because of it's uniqueness, because she did something that made a lot of people angry, that no one was expecting (even her). And I don't think that it defines who a person is on whiether or not they like the series. I simply love Anne Rices stories (those that I've read so far ), but I love Twilight aswell. I can't say "I like Twilight more" or "I like The Vampire Lestat more", because they are completely differant stories, andI just can't compare them. Anyway, so I'm trying not to take offence to the way you paint Twilight fans, because I do disrespect alot of them myself, but as they "don't judge a book by it's cover", and in this sense, I am talking about me. I am not like other people, and it doesn't matter that I like Twilight. Hope to get a reply from you. :)

"If you don't like Twilight, then why do you even talk about it?!" And why should hate be bottled up? It would not be healthy. But of course it should be expressed in as constructive and respective way as possible but you seem to question expressing it whatsoever. There are many valid reasons to genuinely hate Twilight and I see no reason why it should be kept inside and let it be worshiped as something it is not. I've said it before: "It's better to hate something for what it is than love it for what it is not." Like, the Edward/Bella relattionship is not exactly a romance if you really take a look at it and analyse it well. And for the writing - it's not the grammar only or even essentially - and that btw should've been the editor/publisher's job to check on too - but the writing is horrible in so many ways. A 5-year old child could write more realistically developing and more colourful story than Twilight is. Because they don't worship the fucking physical beauty of their characters, they usually don't write weak and whiny girls who are pleased by norhing, and they usually use their original imagination when coming up with the characters and action.

^lol, I would leave twilight alone, but in school im surrounded by girls talking about twilight ALL THE TIME and Im not exagerating. So around them I do bottle it up because most of them are my friends and I dont want to insult them, but when I get home I need to let it out, I need to scream and breath and rant.

Please be a little nicer. I understand your perspective, and I respect that you don't like it, but please don't just bash it because you don't like it. I know how it is sometimes, there are a lot of things I hate too, but I try to be respectful when I'm around those who do like it. :)

There is one thing I like about Twilight more than Anne Rice. Not the sparkling, but the fact that Twilight vampires can't die by sun-light. I mean..I never really understood the whole "I'm immortal yet I can die!" That's contradicting. Though Anne Rice does take that away over-time, which is good.

Anne Rice vampires have much more of a personality. There is a lot more substance in the books. I mean, even when it's Lestat's narrative you can still see everyone's personality.

Stephenie Meyer chose the wrong narrative to make it even close to Anne Rice.
