Mason had started school a few weeks ago and was basking in the moment. The day he came home from his first day he proceeded to tell Edward and I exactly how his day went, which lasted all through dinner.
Bella and I had been home for half an hour when Mason walked in the house and ran straight up stairs. Something was wrong. His normal routin consisted of comming in, slamming the door, dropping his backpack off at the foot of the stairs, and greeting us for his afternoon snack.
"I'll go check on him." I kissed Edward's cheek and bounded up the stairs to Mason's room. I gave his door a few light raps before opening the door. "May I come in."
"Sure." His voice was low and sad.
I closed the door behind me and sat down on his bed beside him. "Want to talk?"
He nodded.
"Why are you so sad?"
He sniffled lightly. "Some older boys on the playground hurt my feelings."
"What did they say?"
"They were all talking about what their dads were so I told them about Edward being a doctor. I told him he wasn't my real dad, that my real dad was in heaven, and they laughed and said Edward didn't love me because I wasn't his real son." His lip wa trembling and tears were threating to spill.
"Oh, Baby." I pulled him into me and kissed his head. "Edward loves you. More than anything in the entire world. Maybe even more than me. Just becase you aren't his real son, doesn't mean he doesn't love you."
"Really?" He asked.
"Of course." I assured him. "Want to know a little secret?"
He looked up at me and nodded.
"He loves his when you call him 'Dad'." I smiled.
"Really?" His face brighted up.
I nodded and laughed, wiping away his tear streaking. "No, why don't you go down there and say hi to him before he get's really worried."
"Okay!" And with that he hopped off his bed and ran down stairs to Edward.
I smiled and walked up the next flight of stairs to mine and Edward's room.
I smiled when I opened the door and saw where his dirty clothes were piled in the corner next to mine. Like they had been there forever. To think at only 5 months we were moved in together and my son was calling him "Dad". I guess fast was just our style. We had been through sadness and loss and depression and this was our chance to be happy. Not the halfway happy crap either. The real, completely, untterly, unbelievably happy. I washed my splashed my tired face with cool water and made my way back down stairs to my boys. They were huddled on the couch watching SpongeBob. Both of them laughing as SpongeBob, They Flying Dutchman and Patrick made there calls on the ship.
"Ahoooooo."
"Ahahahahah."
"Leeda leeda leeda leeda lee."
Mason was dubbled over and Edward was no longer laughing at the show, but at him.
I giggled at them and made my way to the kitchen to start dinner. No sooner than they stopped laughing I felt a pair of warm arms wrapp around my waist. "So, what happened?" Edward whispered in my ear.
I sighed and place the chicken in the pan to cook. "Some first graders convinced him that since you weren't really his dad, that you didn't really love him."
"That's bull shit." Edward's voice rose.
"I know." I placed a hand on his mouth. "I made sure he knew." I smiled and placed a kiss on the corner of his mouth.
"I still don't like this." He shook his head, his cheeks starting to red with anger.
"I would say we could tell his principal and teacher but that would only stop it now. It's going to happen for the rest of his school life and there isn't a thing we can do about it. We just have to keep reminding him that you do. You do love him and you do want him."
Edward leand forward and nodded his head on my shoulder. "I'm going to go back and watch Spongebob." He sighed.
I laughed and ran my hands through his hair. "Go." I nodded. The phone started ringing so I picked up the wall phone by the doorway. "Hello?"
"Bella. Hey, it's Angela."
"Hey, Ange. What's up?"
"I was wondering...could you watch Haylee for a few hours tonight? Ben has this thing we have to go to and children aren't allowed and I have to go. My parents are out of town and his can't watch her." Picture of Haylee at the bottom
"Of course." I laughed. "We would love to."
"Thank you so much Bella! I will have her over in about an hour."
"Okay. We will be here. See you soon." I smiled and hung up the phone. "Boys! Come wash up!" I called and fished out plates from the cabnits.
"What are we having?" Mason ran in and hopped up on his stool.
"Grilled chicken, maccroni and cheese, and greenbeans." I smiled at him.
"Yes!" He jumped down and wiped his hands on hin pants. "My favorite." He sat down in his seat and I sat his plate in front of him, laughing as he dug in.
"Oh, Edward?" I turned to him.
"Yeah?" He sat down at the head of the table with his full plate.
"Angela his bringing Haylee, her baby, over for a little while. Her and Ben have something they have to do and they can't find anyone to keep her."
"Okay." He nodded. "How old is she?"
"6 months." He nearly choked on his water. "What?"
"She's just a baby. I don't know how to take care of a baby." He paniked.
"I do." I giggled. "Remember?" I pointed to Mason who was shoving his face.
He nodded looking back down at his plate.

Now EW.com has learned that little 9-year old Mackenzie Foy is inches away from signing on to play Renesmee, Edward and Bella’s vampire/human love child that’s a central role in the final installment of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. It’s not yet clear how the diminutive actress, who’s appeared in one episode each of television shows FlashForward and ‘Til Death, will portray the character who ages a full 17 years in only seven. Sources have suggested that director Bill Condon will employ similar digital effects to those used by David Fincher in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, where Foy’s face would be digitally transferred onto the face of a younger child. It’s also probable that the studio will hire a younger child in some capacity, too.
