He road with me to the Elementary school. He talked about the game and I laughed. He was a great Player, he told me about the scholarship and how it all when away with one spit bone. I got to the school a bit late, Mrs. Martinez eyes Kevin anxiously and she told me about the rose sent to Alison today. I just nodded my head and introduce Aly to Kevin.
“Alison Love, I want you to meet my friend Kevin” I was holding her; she smiled at him and looked at me.
“Hi Kevin” she said in her sweet voice. She would say it to new people and grandpa when she wanted something. I shook my head and sat her down.
“Kevin is staying for dinner tonight.” I told her as we walked to the car.
“Are you cooking or is Uncle Jacob cooking, I hope you are because I'm tired of Uncles Food.” she said, Kevin and I laughed.
“Yes I'm cooking.” I told her unlocking the car and putting her backpack in the trunk. I took out the rose and handed it to her. “I like your rose.”
“Me to” she commented putting her seat belt on. Kevin watched us smiling.
“What?”
“Nothing I was just learning, you daughter is smart.” He said leaning on the door before he sits down.
“Please she is a kiss up, just wait it’s a long night.”
Alison sat and talked to Kevin all while I made dinner, chicken broccoli casserole, I was a bit jealous she talked to him more then me. But he was completely at ease with it. While Alison did her homework Kevin talked to me about his sister and her daughter and his two brothers.
As I put the Casserole into the oven, the phone rang, some days I forgot I even had a home phone; I walked over and looked to see whom it was. Alice Cullen, of course, she would call. I answered it sheepishly “Alice?”
“I'm so sorry Bella I know you want me to stay away but I can’t, I miss you so much and I did come to see you when you were attacked and I love and miss you and I want to come over, I want to meet you daughter. ” she said fast I almost didn't catch all of it. Not to mention I was mesmerized by her voice, I missed that voice so much. I then realized Bella Cullen had the same voice. I shivered at the thought.
I looked at Kevin “I have to take this could you watch Aly for me.” He nodded and I when into the pantry room. “Alice I forgive you, I was just lashing out and I couldn’t control myself.” I said in a soft tone. “I wish you could but I'm on lock down literally the wolfs will freak if you came any where near my house. By the way, did you come to my house? ”
“Yes I saw your friend come over and if you want him to like you at least me a bit more clean.” She laughed. I smile to myself. I liked him. Believe me.
Don’t me mad at herI told myself “Thank you I thought I was paranoid,” I wanted to see her, refresh my memory a bit, but what if it hurt? What if by seeing her tonight it would send me back into a relapse from high school? What if I made a fool of my self in front of Kevin I really like him and the last thing I need is Jacob walking around my front yard, as a wolf or half naked. What if it doesn’t hurt? If by seeing her, it will bring closure. And Jacob will never find out. Then maybe we could have fun like we use too.
Now that’s the sprit Bella your finally learningBella Cullen was here with me and instead of disagreeing like I always do, I agreed with her.
“So It was the wolfs, I cant see them, I though you died until I see you go to sleep and wake up the next day. ” she said in more of a pondering voice rather then a as-a-matter-a-fact voice.
“Maybe tomorrow I have company tonight and I want to talk with out having to hold back.” I established with her, “I love you Alice have a good night,”
“I love you too Bella.” She hung up her phone. I sighed and came out, Aly was coloring in one of her books now, and Kevin was watching the game. I sat down beside him.
“There is a lot I don’t know about you it worries me.” He said after a minute.
“How so?” I asked. I knew I was secretive but I liked it this way. It was safer.
“You talk about your family a lot but never say anything about them, and you are vary close to them. Then I saw you eyes when you answered the phone.” He said with a smile.
“Well there’s not much to say. In away if we were going out this would be one of those awkward exes conversations. That’s all. And my family is a nutshell.” I leaned into his shoulder with out realizing it.
“My last girlfriend was crazy, when we broke up she left me for my older Brother then got married a month later, my younger brother is the football star of the family he plays of the Raiders and the brother behind him plays for Washington State and will graduate next year. My mom doesn’t talk to me any more and my dad if backpacking Europe with he's latest girlfriend.” he said in a hard face. I nodded, and then exhale heavily.
“Time for bed Alison.” I winked at him and picked her up. He had been yawning on the floor for the past 5 minutes. I laid her down and kissed her head, she fell asleep as I turned off the lights. I walled back into the living room and smiled at Kevin.
I sat down on the other side of the couch took another deep breath at told my self, if this works out with out him running away from me then I will marry him, “Ok now you are going to want to run away form me, never every speak to me again and shun me away.” I smiled weekly at him I held op my hand so he wouldn’t say anything, “I'm a only child, my parents devoiced when I was a few years old, when I was 17 I moved to Forks to go live with my dad, um about six months went by when I met Jacob, when were friends first then we dated then we broke up when to different colleges, then we both came back around the same time, he was getting married to Nicole and I was adopting Alison, we decide to stay friends and because he was the family friend before he was my boyfriend. Alison calls him uncle so I consider him a brother. I'm very close to my ex I guess.” That was nice and simple. I completely left themout. He filled the space in between us.
“Ok I don't see any problems with that.” He smiled angelically. I blushed changing the channel, I hate Sports Center I flipped through the movie channels, Hellboy was on I smiled at him and smiled closer to him.
He caressed my arm restlessly like it was regular for him, nothing new. I let my mind wander. I hadn’t go out with many guys since Jacob. Devon 8 months ago but we only dated for 3 weeks then I broke up with him and he moved to Seattle. I inhaled a breath and heard the rain drizzling on the front porch, strangely, I wasn’t cold. Kevin was warm all the time it seemed, he had no more cloths then I did but he was defiantly warmer.
As his hand lowered down my arm, he passed at my scar. The Bite mark. He stopped and looked at it. He sat up abruptly, and looked at me. What just happened? He looked at me in my eyes the looked at the scar again.
His whole body changed, ice rolled off him and the scowl on his face made me quiver, his right leg was twitching. The tone in his voice scared me it was confused, and lost, dry, and slightly hurtful, “How are you still alive?”
