Chapter 5 Keith (Bella’s P.O.V.)
“Well Bella, before I got turned I was working as a salesman.” he said to me with a lot of interest.
“My dad was dead and my mother was working at a bar. She wasn’t home very much and when she did she would be drunk. So I had to get my own job. All I did was walk up to peoples houses and try to sell some lawn equipment.” he said and sighed as he sat down.
I took a seat across from him in a big chair. He continued on.
“I sold like lawn mowers and grass food…stuff like that. I was only 26 when I was turned. I think I’m like 430 something now though. So there were no neighbors anywhere near them. So I walked up their extremely long driveway, which was two miles!” he said while making his eyes wide for exaggeration.
“Once I had gotten up there I rested for a minute and then walked up those stairs. Though now I really regret that because if didn’t I’d be under a grave and humanly in peace, but that doesn’t work like that now. The only one surviving from that coven now is Hayley. I think the rest were burned for something they did to almost reveal the secret, but Hayley didn’t o because she had the power to sense bad things that were coming, but no one knew about it, not until she told me. I think we were real good friends when I first changed.” he said.
I just noticed my mouth was open. I quickly shut it and looked down.
“I didn’t regret walking up those steps until I saw who they were. When a tall black haired male answered the door, I just stood and stared at them. He cleared his throat and I said, ‘C-c-c-can I sell you some lawn equipment?’ He looked at me and said, ‘Sure why don’t you come in and show us your issues?’” he said and then stood up.
“Well as soon as he asked I fainted down the steps and felt the burning. I just had to sit and scream for death to come, but it never did. Three days later I woke up in their house with all five of them staring at me,” he said and then sat back down as he took a giant breath in.
“The tall one came forward and asked me if I needed to hunt, and I was like, ‘WHAT? Like with a gun, why would I need to hunt? What happened to me? A short blond haired girl said, ‘Calm down nothing is wrong’ but she said it with one of those snobby rich girl tones. I hated her from the first time I heard her voice. They were debating on whom to come hunting with me for the first time. They decided it to be the black haired one because he was like the leader of the coven. He took me out into the night and told me what I had become, ‘Well Keith, you are now a vampire because you fainted and bashed your head open. When vampires smell blood they normally lose control, and Hayley did. We pulled her off you, but it was too late, so we just waited for the transformation to end. I’m Jackson by the way; Hayley is the short red head and my wife. Kristen is the brown haired girl. Emily is the short blonde that I can tell you don’t like her, and she is with Cory, the blond male, and last is Kellen, he is with Kristen. We need to get going too’ then we left.” he said.
“Ha the big one sounds like Emmett.” as soon as I said that it reminded me of Edward. I almost started crying again, but I held back those tears.
“Oh sorry I’ll stop if you want me to.” he said.
“No its just Edward, he’s probably worrying his butt off right now.” I said as I felt the tears coming.
“Well that is kind of the point because of what he did to me.” he said.
“What did Edward do?” I asked worried of what he did.
“It’s is coming up in the story. So Jackson told me all about newborns and that I was one. I only stayed with them for a year until I could live on my own and after that painful year I moved to London. That is where I met the Cullen’s. It was only Carlisle, Esme, and Edward back then. I also found a girlfriend too. She was human and I was going to change her but I was going to wait until I knew for sure that I wanted to spend forever with her. I stayed with Edward and Carlisle for a few weeks because Esme offered. So one night I came home with Selena because I was getting my things and leaving in the morning. Edward took this defensively. I went out and left Selena for just a few hours to pack some of my stuff and when I got home she was in Edwards arms blood drained and white as snow.” Keith said and sighed as he kept fidgeting with his fingers.
“I went to the Volturi to ask them to kill me, but of course Aro said it was to wasteful. I guess I had to move on. I would defiantly never date again. You have it lucky that I’m not that kind of person and killed you yet.” he said while pointing a finger at me.
“You know this could be my story ,you can change me now. I would travel with you or do whatever you say.” I said quickly not knowing what I was even saying.
“That’s not a bad idea, maybe I will. You could be my new girlfriend.” He said while winking at me, “It’s late, you should probably eat, and sleeping wouldn’t be a bad idea either.” He got up and kissed me lightly on my cheek.
“Goodnight” He said.
I was still recovering from the kiss. It was cold but more sensible than Edwards kisses. I liked it. I couldn’t believe that I even thought that, Edward was the love of my life, well existence, because I knew if I survived than Keith would change me.
Keith put something in the microwave and said, “I hope you like Hot Pockets, I think they are just pizza in a roll.”
I thanked him and said goodnight too. I ate in silence, really liking it, even though I’ve never had it.
After I ate I found the couch had a new blanket and pillow. I laid down on it and drifted slowly to sleep. Keith was a very interesting person.
