When we got back from shopping, I carried Nessie out the backdoor and to the cottage Esme had repaired for me and Edward as my birthday gift.
I set Nessie in her bed and went out to the little garden and sat on the little bench by the pond, the sunlight danced around my arms making them shine an reflect off the pond.
Arms wrapped around me and I looked up to see Edward, he looked down at me and smiled.
Edward came around to sit next to me taking my hand in his.
"How was shopping?" Edward teased, barely interested.
"You know Alice, she saw me looking at this pale blue sundress for Nessie and she went and rang it up, so you know, it was shopping, with Alice."
"And Nessie?" Real interest flowed thick in his voice as he glanced around but didn't spot her.
"She is asleep, Rose and Alice were nagging her to get anything she wanted, it made her a bit tired." I smiled, and then got up to go inside.
Edward followed behind, I turned around to see his face, he looked a bit disappointed and I couldn't help but ask.
"What did you hunt?"
A smile played around the corners of his mouth.
"There wasn't much out there this morning, I got down a baby deer but there wasn't much."
"We will go again later."
At that moment I heard a thud and darted to Renesmee's room.
Jacob had come through the window and was sitting in her rocking chair.
"You could have used the door, what if she had woken up? She would have been scared out of her mind."
"Nessie's not scared of me." Jacob laughed once and then looked at Renesmee.
I cleared my throat at the same moment Edward gave Jacob a warning glance, reading his thoughts.
"What?" I asked wondering what he had been thinking that made Edward suddenly roll his eyes and strode out of the room, I followed him into the bedroom.
"What was he thinking."
"It's nothing." I could tell he was telling the truth so I just let it go.
"Have you read any thoughts from Alice as to what I'm getting Nessie?"
"None, if she is keeping it a secret from you then she probably won't be thinking about it."
"Yeah, I guess so."
"Jacob." I whispered.
"Yeah, I'm coming what do-ow you stupid." Jacob was cursing under his breath and Edward and I bothed let out a low howl of laughter.
"Think this is funny?" I looked down to see what he was talking about and saw his toe nail about to come off but no blood came out from under the skin.
I snickered once more and tried to compose my face. "Not all. I very sorry for your loss." I said right when the nail fell to the floor.
"Hey Nessie." Edward smiled and I peeked around Jacob to see Renesmee standing in the door way her cheeks a tad flushed and she giggled when she saw Jacob's foot.
She walked right past Jacob and plopped down into Edwards lap.
He hugged her and whispered in her ear.
"You sleepy little princess."

It's all hats off now, all drum rolls and applause
By slight of the hand you will turn them into dust
A face to face you will lead them by the fall
A track fiend and the saw dust
You're allowed to stare it out
It’s all good luck charms
All trying to understand
Indeed inside me will always hope for worse
You say you keep them close by
They're closer than you think
A track fiend and the saw dust
You're allowed to stare it out
Next spring will bring you back again
You'll sigh and crack the whip for us
And maybe you will be the one
Who'll draw the line in the sand
For us to crawl
It's all past bats now
All painting gorgeous time
And maybe when the night comes
You'll open up the cage
You'll open up the cage
By slight of the hand you will turn them into dust
A face to face you will lead them by the fall
A track fiend and the saw dust
You're allowed to stare it out
It’s all good luck charms

Your lips are nettles
Your tongue is wine
Your laughter’s liquid
But your body’s pine
You love all sailors
But hate the beach
You say come touch me
But you’re always out of reach
In the dark you tell me of a flower
That only blooms in the violet hour
Your arms are lovely
Yellow and rose
Your back’s a meadow
Covered in snow
Your thighs are thistles
And hot-house grapes
You breathe your sweet breath
And have me wait
In the dark you tell me of a flower
That only blooms in the violet hour
I turn the lights out
I clean the sheets
You change the station
Turned up the heat
And now you’re sitting
Upon your chair
You’ve got me tangled up
Inside your beautiful black hair
In the dark you tell me of a flower
That only blooms in the violet hour
In the dark you tell me of a flower
That only blooms in the violet hour
Your tongue is wine
Your laughter’s liquid
But your body’s pine
