In the book is Bella a vegetarian?

In the director and actors commentary Catherine Hardwicke said Bella is a vegetarian did it say that in the book?

Thats what I was wondering because she never touched any meat in the movie.

Maybe Kirsten Stewart was a vegetarian herself when they filmed, so they couldn't give her any meat to eat. Or maybe the director just decided to make the character a vegetarian.
