Female vampires cannot fertalise with the active sperm from other vampires, because theyre dead so dont have periods and produce eggs. Bella however, was still human so when Edward's living sperm fertalised with her egg, like any other baby- 23 chromasones were taken from the female- but 24 were taken form edward because he has more cromasones because hes a vampire. This is why the baby has Bella's eyes, and can eat food AND drink blood. Only it prefers blood as the desire for blood comes with Edward's side of the genes, as like i said, he processed more cromasones. It also grows quicker because like it's father it has lots of speed and strength, and in the womb can't exactly control that. Bella is then in pain of course, because the baby is growing into the size of a todler when only days old, and the womb can only hold a baby sized baby. Hope that clears it up for you. xx
well i thnk u know why she got PREGNENT!!! and its hard cuz the baby is a vamp\human and bella is human and the baby is grownuin at a rappid speed and soo it just keeps on getting bigger and bigger and it is drinking her blood because ithates BABY food soo bella has to drink blood... and she kinda likes it!so did i give u ur awnser?

Because he is a vampire and she is human so it is only possible for a human female to get pregnant with a vampire and the baby is half vampire and there are only a few of them in the world so the mother usually dies but edward saved her, she was just a human and not strong enough to handle it .
1: Bella got pregnant because the moment edward turned into a vampire the entire growth process of his body froze but everything else was still active, he was just given imortality. 2: Edward and bella "slept together" thats how she got pregnant. 3: She has a semi vampire child in her tumy with super strenth thats kicking the heck out her stomach and could posibly burst through her skin.

Bella insisted that they have sex on their honeymoon because she was worried that she wouldn't want sex as much as a newborn vampire - she'd only want blood. They assumed Edward would be infertile because no known vampire had ever conceived a child, so they didn't bother using any form of protection. But they were wrong. Only female vampires are infertile, since their bodies can't adapt to give the child room to grow and they could be trapped at an infertile stage of their fertility cycle. Male vampires can get a human woman pregnant, which is what happened.
The pregnancy was dangerous for Bella because the baby was growing more quickly than her body could really cope with. Nessie also had vampiric strength, so her kicks and movements were bruising Bella and breaking her bones. Also, Nessie was feeding off Bella's blood until Bella began drinking human blood herself. Finally, the baby couldn't be born naturally so the Cullens had to do an emergency Caesarian (or Nessie would be biting the way out of Bella herself later), and the bloodloss would probably have killed Bella if she wasn't turned into a vampire instead.
