Jacob was one of the few carachters that contained some actually realistic traits, and the tiniest grain of depth.

No, because He's in love with Bella and loves Nessie. Yes: However, he forced himself upon Bella to get her to figure out she loved him (that's gross). She wasn't ready to let go of Edward at that time. Plus, he was furious when she had made her decisions that involved ending her human life and becoming a vampire (probably anything that involved the Cullens actually). Therefore, his actions when he was angry made him a jerk.

Umm...both YES AND NO...Jacob may have tried to take Bella away from Edward,but that's because he loved her.He cares about her...and Renesmee...also,he's played by the SUPER-CUTE Taylor in the movie...and sometimes he's annoying...I'm on Team Switzerland but I kinda support Edward and Bella a little more...I'm starting to become Team Edward,and Jacob can be PRETTY ANNOYING sometimes,but he's not a TOTAL jerk...:)

Well really he is and isn't a jerk. He is because when Edward left everyone knows how he hung out with her than just LEFT! And that just put Bella over the edge because at the time she was soooo depressed from Edward's absence and to do that and come back and use Bella by not letting her forgive him but just asuming that she did. Also remember how he acted when Bella finally got tired of it and went to his house well ya it was rude and soul crushing for and already broken soul. I am definately Team Edward but thats not the point Jabob IS a jerk. And I bet I'm going to get some pretty rude comments but seriously Team Jacob people don't you see that he is selfish and un-kind. But just to make you happy I will tell you the very, very, very small traits that he has that are actually semi-good-person-ish. I have to admit he did "patch up the hole in Bella's chest" but on the other hand he also ripped it again. he's just in love with BELLA(so he thought).he was struggling with her in the beginning anyways.he cared for her, and she even cared for him too. they always had some kind of attraction brewing anyway. even the book points out that if it wasnt for edward then :jacob and bella would of ended up with each other anyway.hahaha
but the books took a different toll(like some fans have been upset with) as u read thesecond,thrid,and forth books, jacob gets so overly depressed and somewhat sudidial(cant spell).his love for bella grows along with the hole in his heart.(bella forgave edward for leaving and her love for him has been greater than ever.she wants to be with him forever and ever. she feels terrble that shes does jacob the way she does but, she loves edward so much more) edward feels somewhat bad for him. both edward and jacob wanna kill eachother.

I think he is far from a jerk. He just is in love with someone [at the point happening its Bella] and he is trying whatever to get her. Thats happening every day, all over the world. So i dont say he is a jerk, its all fair in love and war. And he ends up with the right person anyhow, so no drama :D

Being in love with someone is NO excuse for your actions. Jacob is the worst JERK, he oversteps the mark every time, he wont take no for an answer, is disrespectful of others choices and decisions. If being in love with someone is an excuse for any action, then STALKING will become legal, because every stalker is in love with their victim. Edward is polite and respectful. Jacob is a selfish, childish jerk and there is no defence for his actions. But it is not Jacob's fault, it is Stephenie Meye's for writing such a ONE dimensional character.
