Twilight Series Question

What's the difference between 'hot and cool'?

Let's make the assumption between Edward and Jacob.
Temperature.
Maybe it's just the same. But I can't understand how they kept saying 'Edward's hot' while he's actually cool?
And most definitely, Jacob is Hotter than him because he's actually giving heat services to Bella?
So.... what?

Well, "hot" is used in multiple ways like the word bat. The word bat can mean a baseball bat, or it could be an actual bat, the animal. Hot can be used to describe temperature, or physical appearance. When someone describes Edward as being "hot" they are referring to his physical appearance, rather than his temperature since he is, in fact, very cold. With Jacob, someone could use "hot" to describe him temperature wise, or based on his appearance. Not everything is literal. So even though hot may be used to describe temperature, it can also be used to describe attractiveness.

For one thing being "Hot" is simply a term of looks. If you go from there to "Hot and Cold" it is easily understood that Edward although handsome and charming and strong, has not heartbeat, no blood and is basicaly not alive.
While Jacob, has blood flowing in his veins and his heart beats, he is very much warm, sensual and alive regardless if he is a shape-shifter to a wolf. The wolf is also warm and alive.

I'm confused. Yeah, i knew they're talking bout the looks. But why hot, not cool. Isn't it appropriate to say? 'Edward's cool' which is true? While they kept saying 'Edward's hot' which is true (on looks) but not in other sense. So what?

becus when people think someone is atractive, they don't say he looks cool. they say he looks hot.

"hot" is generally used to describe a sexy appearance, while "cool" is more to do with how someone behaves and the way they dress, the car they drive and so on.
