I've already said this but I'll say it again:
What were you all expecting??
Did you honestly THINK you'd like it?? Think about the other movie adaptations - Harry Potter, Eragon. Were you as disappointed with them as you were with this??
I didn't think the movie was perfect. But I knew going in that it wasn't going to be. I was dead sure it was going to be absolutely horrible and going in with such low expectations I was pleasantly surprised!
What you have to remember is that it's a movie, not the book. Books have SO much more detail when it comes to character development and relationships. You're in Bella's head the entire time, you get to know her so well. You fall in love with Edward and Jacob. You can't help it. You're Bella as well! That's why we love the book so much!
Let's face it, Edward was designed to be the most perfect guy ever - that's why he isn't human. No one could be that perfect. Being inhumanly beautiful inside and out has got to be a very tough role. So Robert Pattinson gave it his best shot. Plus they had millions of hormonal teenage fans who were ready to tear people's heads off if the movie wasn't perfect (by the way: I'm not saying you're like this, but I am saying there are some crazy people out there - Twilight can make you pretty... animated?).
What is perfect anyway? Perfect is your own particular interpretation of the book. The director's was different to yours and mine. You just have to adapt and think it through objectively. We missed out on the whole meadow scene... but we actually got to SEE Edward instead of daydream the entire time. Jacob's hair was shampooed and brushed very nicely, but... Actually there's no forgiving that - Jacob brushes his hair?! I burst out laughing when I saw him! That's probably the most ridiculous thing about the movie!
But that's sort of my point I guess. Nothing is perfect. It could NEVER be perfect.
Yes, Kristen Stewart bugged me. Yes Pattinson even bugged me a little bit (only a little bit... I'm developing a major crush actually). But look at it as a whole. Remember that unless the movie was 10 hours long, there was no way we could get anywhere near as much character and relationship development as we did with the book. That's just the way movies are. They're different.
Think movie not book and get back to me on what you think.
Besides a few VERY lame lines (Spidermonkey?!... Spidermonkey?!?) I thought it was MUCH better than I was expecting.
And I laughed at everything that was wrong.
