Partners in Crime: Chapter Three- βƦվñ
I was shoved in my cell roughly. I whirled around and stuck my out. "You little f*cker!" the guard yelled. He unlocked my cell, and charged in, baton raised. I grabbed the baton, and broke it on my knee. I stuck the splintered parts in his foot arm and legs. He collapsed in pain, and I lept on him. I put my hand right where I could break his neck. I looked up. My inmate and the guys in the hall stared at me. I let go, but spit on him. "Get out of this cell," I growled. He stumbled out of the cell without a comment. I looked at my inmate. She was Latino. She had a scar on her right eye and her code was NJVA18. I saw a rubber band on the ground. "Do you know how to braid?" I asked. She nodded and scooted over. I sat down and she split it in three sections.
"You fighter," she said in a rough accent, "give me hope," she added. We sat in silence for about two minutes. "Long, beautiful hair," she said. She was right about it being long, it went just below my waist. "Suprise guards didn't cut off," she said.
"They probably want to see if I survive in this prison with long hair. All the women will be jealous because I have long hair and they don't," I replied. She finished braiding my hair, and I thanked her. I went to bed a while afterwards.
I woke up to whistling. It was a code for something.
"You will have learn," NJVA18 told me. Everyone woke up and went to the cell door. The guard that I unfurled walked by my cell.
"This day is going to be HELL for you," he threatened. "Jahel, you may come out of your cell, not her," the guard said and pointed to me. Jahel walked out and gave me a sympathetic look and walked on. The guard let everyone out for breakfast. My stomach growled, but I ignored it. I sat back and relaxed.
Jahel came back and handed me something hot. I looked in my hands- it was a roll. I took a bite out of it. "Was only thing I could salvage," Jahel told me.
"Thank you," I told her. I wasn't given any food for the day, but NJVA18 spared me some bits of food.
