In the tv series, do you think they made Elena a brunette, instead of a blonde, to try to pull the "Bella" fans over?

No, maybe the actress just didn't wanna dye her hair, or maybe she looked bad as a blonde. It's whatever though I like the show now and I could care less whether or not she's a blonde.

Of course they made her a brunette because of Bella. Truthfully that was my only complaint about the books. Elena was supposed to be blonde, perfect and frankly a little conceited. This Elena is more relatable. I like her better.

I think they may havei did go on a huge rant about it but then i thought I DO NOT CARE because, lots of movies are similar right? in a way i mean the 2 main characters almost always end up together. If you enjoy a film a show or a book, tiny details like hair colour do not matter. whether it is similar to Twilight or not, if it's a good show it is a good show, if you dont like it then that is your opinion

But maybe with casting a brunette Elena, they are trying to show, that even though the series is based on a book, it still has a story of it's own, and that is just representing it.

the whole 'bella-edward' fan craze may have had something to do with their choice to make elena a brunette. but personally i think that nina dobrev makes a great elena gilbert. she is a good actress and brings a lot to the show. I also like how they traded elena's little sister for a younger brother who is closer to her age.
