Lately, there has been one thing on my mind. "The Office." Why? Because it is the only show I have ever seen that exibits real life so truthfully. Even reality tv shows leave me saying, "This cannot be real." How do they do it? I analize over and over again, and I have come up with a few reasons. Number one: This is not a rising action, climax, resolution kind of show. In almost every other show out there, a huge, life-altering problem and an improbable resolution are neatly squeezed into a time slot. This is not how "The Office" works. Sometimes, nothing overly important happens in an entire episode. But that just makes the momentous times (JAM moments!) all the more important. Number two: The people look REAL! Pam's hair is either natural looking, or sloppily straightened. Dwight. I think that is all I have to say. Basically, there are not, in real life, that many people walking down the street who are beautiful. On regular shows, every single person, even the "ugly" ones, are perfectly coiffed. Number three: Vulnerability. This is probably the most important feature that makes this show so real, and in turn so addictive. Every main character has been in a vulnerable position several times throughout the show. It makes me cringe, it makes me turn away, but in actuality, it is the thing that keeps me coming back.

This was pretty funny how they introduced the five "families". Makes them sound like the mafia...or the mob. Wonder who's the godfather ;)
