The next morning on my way to school, I found it to be rather cold. What was it? fall? Ehh, that made sense I guess. I rode my bike the usual route I take, but found something different. Miss Suzumiya was walking a bit ahead of me. I've never seen her this way. I pushed my bike faster to catch up with her.
"Hey, Hop on." I smiled
she smiled back and climbed onto the back of the bike and held me by the waist.
"It's kinda cold today" She said as she snuggled her cheek into my shoulder. "Yeah. Good thing we got that heater in the clubroom" I laughed.
Before I knew it, we were at the high school. I parked my bike and took Haruhi's hand and started to walk into the building. Of crose we had to part soon after that. I gave her a quick kiss on the cheek and walked off to my class.
after my classes and lunch, I was on my way to the clubroom. When I finally reached the room, everyone was there, except me. Well, it happens a lot these days. Thank god it wasn't a meeting. I don't have enough money to be having penalties.
I took a seat a the table and smiled.
"Hello everyone," I said. "Nice to see you all again." Miss Asahina smiled at me and handed me a cup of tea. "Thank you" I sipped the tea and tapped my foot on the ground.
"Well," Haruhi started. "I heard we're getting a new student this coming wednesday! Isn't that exciting?"
"Very," Kyon sighed.
"Her name is Leiko, and she'll be joining mine and Kyon's class!" She sung.
I laughed slightly. She always gets excited over this type of thing.
Miss Asahina smiled. "I can't wait to meet her," she said.
"Mhm, and I overheard some guys saying that she was beautiful!" She glared at Kyon. "So don't get any ideas."
Kyon choaked a bit on his tea. "What are you talking about?!"
"Ohh, come on Kyon. We all know you're a sucker for pretty women." I could tell, she was about to point at Miss Asahina.
"Well anyway, lets all give her a warm welcome when she gets here, alright?"
As I was walking my bike home that night, I remembered something.
Leiko... It sounds so familiar...
And then I relized why it sounded familiar. Leiko was another Esper in "the organization".
Damn, it really is a small world. I can't believe I didn't remember when Haruhi first told us.
-----------
On Wednesday, Haruhi was late to the clubroom.
Kyon and I were playing Go, Nagato was reading, and Miss Asahina was sitting by Kyon.
"So, how was class today?" I asked.
"Well, Haruhi was right about something. Leiko is quite pretty." He laughed.
I nodded. "Yes, I bet she is..."
"You okay there?" He asked.
"Oh, yeah. I'm fine. Just thinking." I smiled.
Just then, Haruhi burst threw the door.
"Everybody, this is Leiko Mori!" She sung as she pulled Leiko into the clubroom. She looked around and when her eyes found mine, she froze.
"Leiko, welcome to the SOS brigade! that boy over there with the stupid look on his face is Kyon, the girl with the book is Yuki, the cute one is Mikuru, and the other boy by Kyon is Itsuki." Leiko's eyes got bigger.
"H-hi everyone." She stuttered.
Haruhi pushed her over to a chair across from me. "Go ahead! Take a seat!" She smiled.
"Well," She looked up at Haruhi. "What does this SOS Brigade do exactly?"
"We uhm,"
"Run around town helping others, and or finding things you couldn't find everyday." Kyon sighed.
"Yeah... what he said." Haruhi glared at him.
"Oh, well, it sounds fun enough" Leiko smiled.
"Then welcome aboard Leiko-kun!" haruhi smiled back at her.
"One question." She pointed to Miss Asahina. "Do we cosplay?" Leiko asked.
"Huh? ohh, right." Haruhi laughed. "No, Mikuru just likes to dress up!"
"Uhrm, actually I-" Mikuru started, but she instantly became silent when Haruhi glared at her.
"Well, as Miss Suzumiya said, Welcome to the brigade." I smiled.
On my way home, I heard an unexpected voice call my name.
"Itsuki! Wait up!" I heard Leiko's voice call.
I turned around to see her running over to me.
When she finally reached me, she was huffing.
"Yes?"
"I need to talk to you."
"Well, here I am." I smiled.
"Did you know I was transfuring?"
"Not exactly. Nobody said anything. To me that is."
"Ohh. right. I forgot to tell you..."
"Eh, it's fine. I was just surprised."
"Well," She look at the sky, "Somebody said it would be a good idea to send more help with you to keep Miss Suzumiya happy, and I was willing so they sent me."
"I see. Haruhi's been pretty happy these days, but incase something goes wrong, It is a good idea."
Suddenly, my phone rang.
"Hello?"
"Itsuki, sorry this is last minute, but there's gonna be a meeting tonight. At the park."
"Alright. Meet you there."
"Wait, I don't have Leiko's number, can you tell her somehow? Don't you live near her?"
"Yes, I'll tell her. See you." I put away my phone.
"Okay, Leiko, it's time for your first brigade meeting." I smiled. "Let's hope we're not late."
I gestured to my bike "Go ahead. There's room"
-----------
Thankfuly, Kyon was the last one there, as usual. We all sat down on a blanket, Haruhi and I holding hands, Mikuru looking confused, Kyon staring at Mikuru, and Yuki and Leiko just sitting quietly.
"Alright everyone," Haruhi piped up. "I've called you all here today to tell you that..."
All of the sudden two figures came out from behind a tree as if on cue.
"We have two new brigade members!"
One of them was what looked like a very fit women, and the other was a thin looking man with silver hair.
"Everyone, meet Envy and Gin."
I stared. Why would these two join the SOS brigade? They looked at least 20.
"They're friends of mine, and they thought it would be a good idea to do something with their lives, So they turned to me of corse!"
"Uh, Haruhi, are these two even in our grade?" I asked softly.
"No... but they're only in their 20's! Gin's 23, and Envy is 22." She smiled.
Envy stood there with her arms crossed. Then I noticed a ring on her ring finger.
"Is she married??" I blurted.
"Of corse" Envy sighed. Then Gin smiled and took her by the hand.
"Mhm, Gin and Envy are married! Isn't that sweet?" I swear, she was aiming the question at me. I was only 16! Not even close to being ready for marriage!
"Well, nice to meet you both. And welcome to the brigade" Mikuru smiled.
"Actually, we're new to Japan also." Gin laughed.
"You'll love it here" Leiko smiled.
