I need to preface this with the following. I love them both. Barney, Robin, Lily, Marshall, Ted, the Goat, all of it is fantastic but I find that Doctor Who plays on my emotions more. I laugh in Mother and I did cry when Lily and Marshall got married (a la Barney) - I'm anxious about Brobin but when I watch a Doctor Who episode like Doomsday and sob or Blink and sort of freak out around statues I know how emotionally invested I am. How I Met Your Mother is a show with an overall seasonal arch but each Doctor episode has a much grander storyline.
