Star Trek Question

What's Star Trek about?

I really don't know, Star Trek doesn't come on tv. Could someone please just give me a summary on what it's all about?

It is set in around the years of 2150-3000. It is based around humans who are part of the "United Federation of Planet", they are and alliance of planets who want to keep peace in the galaxy. Most of the series are about the exploration of the galaxy in various star ships. There is however a deeper theme to the series as it shows how our world would be if we had 100% peace in the world and stopped all the fighting. The Star Trek series are a model for the perfect universe. I am sorry if this does not make sense i thought i would try and answer the question but it is hard to sum up 800+hours worth of TV and film in a short amount of time. This may help you furthere. If taken into context the original show (1966 - 1969) is really "about" the social issues facing America at the time: Vietnam, race relations, gender relations, etc. Gene Roddenberry knew he could never get away with making bold statements about these issues so he used the guise of Sci Fi and in the process created the most important series in television history
