"The wildlife scene depicts a stunning detailed monochrome study of a mother squirrel and her young. The illustration appears to have been created for an agricultural magazine. The painting is on embossed artist's card. The image is titled "Squirrel & youn in nest". The mother squirrel carries one of her young up a delicate tree branch towards the nest or drey made of fine twigs and leaves. Her two other offspring await her return, one in the nest the other looking on. Delightful! A beautiful intimate study from the Birmingham School of artists during the Arts and Crafts period.
