okay this question is freaking me out.... it's not you just the thought of... a.... ritual? like......what? i'm creeped out now o.O

UMMMM....i bet it was.... okay i have no idea.

My friend lulu and i were wondering the same thing. We just would say that some women gave up her son to Death.

Well kids, let's go back and look at the mothers in Soul Eater that we know. Forgive me if i missed one.

Medusa- A crazy women that put black blood in her own child.

Tompson Sister's Mother- "The most beautiful whore in town" and she abandoned her kids.

Rachel's Mom- Lets her kid chase after a wild dog. (okay, so this wasnt really her fault)

Maka's Mom- A women that doesnt want her husband to have any responsibility for their daughter (understandible, but still)

Now considering these mothers that we have met/ heard of, I personally hope that we never find out what Kid's mom is like.

And that ritual sounds like a good thing now...

I've always wondered this too. She had to be something special for Lord Death to like her. Or maybe he doesn't have one and is just made from Lord Death himself or something..?

Well Kid doesn't have a mother he is a fragment of lord death wich is minchined often nere the end of the manga

I don't think he has a mom o.O
Maybe he just appeared one day XD

There are many theories.
A popular one is that Kid was an extension of Death's soul.
My personal theory is that Death indeed had a wife but was killed or disappeared long before Kid was old enough to even remember her face. It's a long story.

There is no actual answer.
