I'm not a very big fan of Lily in general and I think Severus deserves better.

I think they didn't deserve each other. Lily didn't deserve him because she couldn't forgive him for calling her a mudblood and Severus didn't deserve her because he chose his Death-Eaters-to-be-friends over her.

^According to JK Rowling, he chose his friends in order to impress Lily. He wanted to belong to something powerful so as to impress her.

besides, I don't really like Lily as a teenager ;) as a mother however ... well, we don't really know much, but I'm sure she was a loving mother ;)

She wasn't good enough for Snape he deserved a whole lot better someone who wouldn't judge him and hold a grudge against him for one little mistake

I'm glad she was his friend, but I definitely got the vibe that he was way more into her.

I love that tragacially beautiful story of them JKR wrote...it´s very sad for Snape, but if it wasn´t, it wouldn´t be as powerful and I wouldn´t like Snape as much as I do now. He´s a great character, but remember - he suffered that much in his life maily for his own mistakes...and because of his story, for me he is now a hero. Plus, I think that Lily & James may have not like each other when they were at Horwarts, but just like Sirius said, many teenagers are like that, they have started to go out together later in 7th grade and I´m sure James later was a great husband and loving father. And that brings me to the main thing I wanted to say - if Lily&Snape were canon, there would be no Harry Potter! Neither the 7 awesome books about him! :p

I guess I like love story, the way Severus always hid his feelings from the world, and the way his love for her pushed him for twenty years to complete his task, but still, I can never ship them, because it's a dead ship anyway (Lily IS dead) and even before she did, when they were still in Hogwarts, I always thought Lily stopped liking him even as a friend sins early teens, while Severus kept loving her for twenty years after she died. I can never deny that he loved her, deeply, but it was never romance, it was unrequited love, and that just breaks my heart...

I voted for shipping them. But I am not sure, because I don't understand why he loved her so much, for what qualities or actions. Yes, in books there was said that Lily was very kind, pretty and talented in Potions (actually Snape was helping her), but these are not rare qualities, why he wasn't able to forget her till the end? Can somebody explain?

I don't ship with Lily anywhere. She wasn't an interesting enough character for me. And, fanfic wise, well, she passes away. I might be able to ship her while they were in the Marauder Era, but not after.
And I hate unfappy endings, with her being deceased, I can't see anyway for Severus to have a HEA with her.

And, with her having a son with James and married to James, I just can't ship her with Severus while she's married to James.

I won't say never, cause there are some very very talented writers out there that might make it believable and enjoyable, but, I have no interest in it.

On the one hand, I don't think Lilly deserved Severus, he was too good for her; and I think it was stupid of her to end their friendship over his one mistake that he tried to make up for.
