I think that spinners end was the only place where, near hogwarts, he could go to. He was not the kind of person who would have spent his spare time on a beach or go hiking etc.

I picked 'wondering why he still goes back to teach the dunderheads'for two reasons.one because it just seems so snapelike(dont think that is a word... well it is now!).I mean, given the fact that he seems to think of the students in his class as dunderheads it just seems like something that he would ponder over.the second reason because it was probably the funnies thing to pick up there on the choices(XD).welcome to my odd ways of thinking :)!
