Some things just aren't meant to be. If they had been, Severus would have understood her when she stressed over his creepy Death Eater-wannabe friends, he would have understood and accepted that she felt uncomfortable with his love of the Dark Arts, and he would have found the strength within himself to walk away from it all, because he would have appreciated just how lucky he was to have something so precious as a special friend. If they had been, Lily would have understood why he hung out with that creepy crowd, and why he loved the Dark Arts and would have gone out of her way to help him understand why it wasn't the right way to go. She would have gone out of her way to help him, period. She would have listened to the whole story of what really happened that night at the Whomping Willow. She would have listened, period.

And one of my personal beefs with Lily...when he tells her that he won't let her be made a fool of, and she gets all bitchy about it. Makes me just want to smack her. He's telling her this because he LOVES HER, but all she hears is that he thinks he can tell her what she can and can't do.

But this is the reasoning of a mature adult, and they were both just 15 years old, and they were both really only thinking of themselves.

Nope. It looked like a very unbalanced relationship. Snape was completely besotted by Lily right from the beginning, but the same could not be said about Lily. Snape was just one of her friends.

Their story gets my teary. Poor Severus. James Potter is a prick. The only good thing that came out of Lily and James was Harry. It's a shame really, Severus and Lily would have been so much better.

Lily didn't deserve Snape he was better off without her.
