I love how he was dressed at that event - about in the same kind of pattern than Severus : white shirt under a black 3-piece suit.

its odd sometime he looks taller then in the next part he looks shorter i wonder if they use the little pads in their shoes to look taller ?

Any example ? I may have missed something... I noticed that in the Boathouse, Severus looked a bit taller than Voldemort. But it's a question of light, frame, close up, etc.

I do remember that one book - OotP, if I'm not mistaken - mentioned that he was shorter than Sirius, but since we aren't exactly sure how tall Sirius was either, it doesn't really help anything, heh.

I don't think he was too short, because if he was, Harry would definitely have thrown that in with the rest of his favorite insults when thinking of Snape (pallid, bat-like, greasy haired, etc).

I'm guessing he was probably about average height, maybe a little taller. Somewhere around 5'10 or so.
