Severus Snape Question

Merope Gaunt=Severus Snape?

Am I the only one who think they share very similar characteristics and childhoods? (unrequited love, "bad" parents)

Ps. join the Merope spot if you like:

A very interesting remark and question. The Gaunts were as dyfunctional a family as were the Snapes.

(In another style, it is funny to consider the Muggle Dursleys and the pureblood wizards Malfoys to be very similar in their own family dysfunctionality too.)

Poor Merope had an unrequited love too. She died giving life. Severus died trying to save lives.

Yet, there's a major difference between the two : Where Merope died of desperation too, without any outlook on life, Severus knew why he sacrificed himself, he had a purpose. He hoped that his sacrifice would help protect Draco (remember the 2nd clause of the Unbreakable Vow) from the Dark Lord, while sending Voldemort onto a false trail regarding the mastery of the Elder Wand. He knew why he died.

And yes, I joined the Merope Gaunt spot.

I never really thought about it before but, now that you mention it, they do have a lot in common. Especially their childhoods.

Yes i totally agree with you they both share similarities like they both had a horrible childhood, they had a horrible father who didn't care about them and both of them fell in love with someone who had muggle parents :S And in both way the person they loved never loved them
