Honestly, I really hate that people talk about gay topics all the time. I know I like guys. End of story. Does it matter I was born like that? If it was my choice, would it seriously make a difference? Like who cares if the person was born gay or not? All it matters is the person is gay now so he can start dating guys (if he wanted to). Thats really the only thing you need to know.
The more questionable thing is why people would want to change it. Whether its the person's choice or the person was born that way, the person changing it is still being an ass either way and doesn't respect the gay person.

it's sensitive because like your question suggests we don't know all that much about it so people can argue it's not real, it's unnatural etc. and have not totally invalid points. that creates a lot of friction that causes the topic to be sensitive. and since historically societies around the world have been varyingly but generally narrow-minded and religious a lot of people just aren't open to the idea of homosexuality

but about your question, some people probably choose to like the same sex, but generally i believe it's born

you're born it, and just assume it's normal and everyone else feels the same way.
and it's a very touchy subject because of homophobia and peoples beliefs regarding it.

It's sensitive because it's extremely controversial. There's some people that don't have any problem with it, and some who are just plainly against it because of their own personal belief.

And to answer the question, most homosexuals are born with it. It's been biologically proven. Sure, if you really really want to be attracted to a different sex then I think it's possible to change it on your own. But even if you do it doesn't matter. That's your own personal choice which you have every right to make.

Personally, I don't really see why so many people are so against it.
"Homosexuality is unnatural!"
Yeah, because things like airplanes, houses, cars, clothing, computers, and basically everything else humans rely on are totally made by nature.

Don't be angry about homosexuality becoming legalized.
Be angry that it's still illegal in Illinois to posses more than $600 worth of salamanders.
Or that it's illegal to collect or carry seaweed at night in New Hampshire.
Or that it's illegal for donkeys to sleep in bathtubs in Arizona.
Fight for equality now.

I just want to say I agree with all the other answers people have given.
People argue with topics they don't understand or are scared of. It takes one person to start anger and meanness and people don't want to be on the wrong side of it. So we have been taught Gays are wrong. It is an opinion, I am fine with. We are all scared of what people will think of us or what will happen if agree or state our opinion.

Personally, I don't believe people are born gay, straight, bi, or anything else.

Babies are blank slates, so I think that when they get older, it eventually comes to them.

The only thing people are born as is... male, female, or hermaphrodite. They have a gender... but not an orientation just yet.

Because people have very firm opinions on the subject. There is also a lot of religious feeling on the subject.

I believe being gay isn't a choice. People don't wake up one day and think, 'I am going to be gay today' because if they did they would able to choose not to be gay and that doesn't actually happen. Gay people are either born that way, or it develops. Sexuality is a very fluid thing.

Because people are dumbasses when it comes to same sex love.
Especially christians. Sorry, SOME Christians. They believe that gays should not get married.
Being a bisexual, I find this offensive beyond belief.
Gays fought for their right to get married, they struggle to make themselves heard so they can be loved by their lover.
And poeple, Christians, say "Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve!"
And i'm over here throwing up in a fucking trash can.
I have NOTHING against religion whatsoever, BUT, when someone like those people act so fucking dense and immature, i just want to shout "SHUT THE FUCK UP AND GROW UP YOU ASSHOLES!"
Everyone should have equal rights. not just the ones, "Following God's laws." Fuck that bullshit. take your bible and shove it up your clitoris. T. T

Sorry, i get sensitive to this type of stuff ^^'''

I honestly do not understand what is so bad about it. You are born that way. So what? It isn't really bothering anyone except for the ones who make a big deal out of it.

Homophobia. That's why.

And being gay isn't a choice. You become attracted to who you find appealing, and it's as simple as that. No one can choose who they like. You just... like them. You are what you are. You can't wake up one day and think, "Oh, being straight is boring, I think I'll be gay now". It doesn't work that way.

tl;dr
Homophobia/religion.
Attackers, you let them be, you cannot force change.
Defenders, you may get rampant but at least do not bypass the given threshold of freedom of speech.

It depends on the person. It is rare for a person to be born Gay but many people choose to be gay to be popular, that's usually the reason but sometimes, it just happens, again depends on the person.
