I won't choose either. If I was him, I would have chosen to live with her in the forest, but Ashitaka obviously doesn't feel comfortable living in the forest, when he could stay at the ironworks. I guess there's more there for him and he'd probably feel more useful. In essence, he probably wishes to help Eboshi fight Lord Asano.
