With the sound of rhythmic drums and beautiful Cornish landscapes, the story of our hero opens. A woman, astride an uncontrolled horse, blots across the rolling green hills in Cornwall. The rider cries out in distress, but not a soul comes to her aid. Elizabeth, formerly known as a Poldark now turned Warleggan races along the cliffs, unable to bring the station to a halt. The distance between a steep, watery fall and she closes. The gap becoming smaller with each leap and bound. But off in the distance, a man stands holding his horses bridle in check. Ross sees the oncoming disaster and rushes...

"POLDARK" SERIES ONE (1975): EPISODES FIVE TO EIGHT

Over a year ago, I began watching the BBC's 1975-77 adaptation of Winston Graham's literary series about the life of a British Army officer and American Revolutionary War veteran, following his return to his home in Cornwall. The first four episodes of "POLDARK" proved to be adaptation of the first novel in Graham's series, 1945's "Ross Poldark: A Novel of Cornwall, 1783-1787". Episodes Five to Eight focused on the series' second novel, 1946's "Demelza: A Novel of Cornwall, 1788-1790".
