I think its fine as lomg as they research the truth from the media
thats how i found the Wiccan path (though i primarily found it through a book by Marot Adler)

I like Harry Potter, but it doesn't influence my choice of paths, real magic isn't like Hollywood

@deathroman12: Really? Why?

I get comments about my chosen path a lot. When someone finds out I work with the Norse pantheon, their reaction is either "Oho, someone needs her comic books/movies taken away!" or "Well, you must only be practicing because of Tom Hiddleston or Chris Hemsworth, so your not a real Norse Pagan/Asatru!" Which irks me because it makes assumptions about why and how I'm on this path. But then I started thinking and wondered "does it really matter?" Does it matter if I found the Norse gods through Thor, or if I found the Greek gods through Hercules? As long as I truly study it, why does it matter how I found out about it?

for people stuck in oppressive Christian households ( as i am) the media is the only way to find their true path. As long as they read and learn further, good for them they learn something from media
