both!! so much! ive been used to the baley overload for quite some time now. but them turning the UKOR story into the "Brooke Davis" story, and acting like she is just SO amazing recently for making it through her supposedly TERRIBLE life is just so ridiculous. give me a freaking break..

Well, what they were going to do? Tell the story of a friendship with a character that was no longer in the show?
And Brooke was an amazing character. No need to shove that down our throats because she was an amazing character.

No. They don't have to tell the story of any of those friendships... but they also don't have to ignore them, act like they never happened, and even go as far as to re-write those friendships, in order to make another current friendship seem that much stronger. Which is exactly what they did, on several occassions.

And Brooke was an amazing character. No need to shove that down our throats because she was an amazing character.

Exactly my point. She WAS an amazing character, back before the show felt the need to tell us that every 10 minutes. Granted, she had flaws like everyone else, but she was still great. And you're right, there was no need for them to shove it down our throats. But they did. They overly glamorized her character episode after episode, and twisted her story SO much in the effort to make her look like god or something... that it made many of us just dislike her. And I know that doing so annoyed quite a few viewers, not just myself.

Definitely this one. I love Brooke... LOOOVE Brooke... but it was just unnecessary. One thing I love about Brooke is her ability to be so subtle when it comes to acts of kindness and selflessness. And so I get that they would want to bring to everyone's attention all these subtle things she's done and ways she's grown... but if most of the audience has seen her this way for the past 9 seasons and fallen in love w/her for it... I think it's safe to say you don't need to CONSTANTLY remind us of it.

But then again, that's what's done on OTH. They find something they love and think they created well, and then shove it down everyone's throat. It's the exact thing that happened to Leyton in seasons 5 and 6. Seasons 1-4 they had a love story that didn't need to be declared as an "epic love story"- viewers who loved them would watch & thought it was epic, they didn't need to repeatedly be told that in order to think it. And then seasons 5 & 6 the writers felt the need to CONSTANTLY have the characters repeat how amazing they are and how it's always been them...etc. in order to convince people (who were already convinced!) that they were wonderful. And the people that weren't convinced certainly weren't going to change their minds because they are being told to change their minds.
Same thing happened with Brooke. People who love Brooke don't need to be reminded about why they should love Brooke, and people who don't love Brooke only found it irritating that they were being told to love her.

We love our characters & couples, we don't need the writers to try to convince us to love them by constantly repeating how incredible they are. Just show it to us, don't talk about it.

I KIND OF feel the same way about Baley, but not exactly. I really felt that way at Brooke's wedding with Haley's maid of honor speech, but other than that I didn't really feel that way. So much of their friendship had always been the 2 of them spending a lot of time together, Brooke telling Haley how much respect she has for her, and Haley telling Brooke how proud she is of her. And that seemed to continue to be their dynamics in seasons 8 and 9.

I love Brooke and I love Baley, I just wish the writers would have realized they did their job & created incredibly wonderful characters, couples, & friends... so there's no need to spend every episode telling us just how amazing they are.

I thought this too.
Brooke is my fave character along with Haley, but it was really annoying how much they were talking about how amazing she is. And Julian making the Ravens all about Brooke. That really pissed me off.

But I don't really agree about Baley. Brooke and Haley were always great friends. I mean, yes - Peyton was Brooke's best friend, and Lucas was Haley's. But then they left. They were gone for years and it's natural that Brooke and Haley got closer.

Honestly, Lucas and Peyton were always my least favorite out of the core 5, it's not that I didn't like them, I really did, it's just that I liked the other 3 more. So I guess it was easier for me to let go of LP and keep watching the show.
But when they left I really missed them, not so much as characters or a couple, but I missed their relationships with Brooke, Haley and Nate more. They created such a strong bond between these characters, and then 2 of them had to go. First of all LP leaving Tree Hill was already OOC for me. So I didn't take too much seriously the facts that Lucas and Peyton didn't come for Lydia's funeral, or Brooke's wedding or the birth of Lydia, Jude and Davis. It bothered me so much, and it pissed me off. But I just kept telling myself that the actors left and they just had to make some lame excuses for characters, but I know Lucas and Peyton would never ever miss this.
And the writers had to let go of these characters too, and focus on the actors, characters and relationships that did stay on the show. That's understandable.

After the final I don't need to complain about the show anymore. I think they did a great job & i don't really agree on either of those NOW. I thought the exact same thing in season 8 but seaso 9 was pretty good for both of these things.

And how Julian simply includes himself in the story and how he changes everything. If someone had to write the script it should be Lucas. How Julian said, he doesn't know how it was and it just pisses me off how he changes everything.

Brooke was amazing since day 1. And it's not bad to actually say it even towards the end because before that she was the only one who got called on every mistake she did and the rest were as if they never made a single mistake.

As for Baley I kind of agree on the part of being best friends because Breyton were the original besties, but if this is about Baley/Paley then Baley were already much closer friends than Paley since the high-school years. The only thing different was that they now had to have more scenes, which worked out for me cause they're my 2nd fave OTH friendship ;)
