Ehh... I dunno. Julian was part of the show for a longer period of time, but I think his character was also mainly just around to support/further Brooke's story. As opposed to Clay, whose character and storylines kind of stood on their own.

But I personally just refuse to think of Clay as a main character, so I'll go with Julian lol

A scene that just keeps coming to mind is the scene in season 6 where Haley, Lucas, Brooke, Nathan, AND Julian are watching Peyton from the hospital/surgery window thing. I always thought it was unusual how they included Julian in that scene as well, but I guess it was just going to show that he was now a main character.{or I'm thinking too much about it}

He was there an entire season before Clay & Quinn + he married one of the main characters he wasn't just someone who was brought in to have more characters.
As much as i like Clay & Quinn, i really feel like they were just trying to replace Lucas & Peyton, unlike Julian who had more purpose.
