Once Upon A Time Question

Can somebody explain to me why Rumple didn't ask for Bae in his wish in the finale?

It was suppose to be something he had once lost...Well, I know he lost his magic, but the greatest lost he had was his son in my opinion. Why did he chose magic instead of his son?

I think he wanted it all and he figured magic would give that to him. Having the most powerful type of magic, or just having access to some form of magic & power, he probably could get anything he wants. He already has Belle & love, he would only have to work on getting Baelfire with his powers.

Because he probably wouldn't have much of a story-line in the second season ;)

But, seriously, someone on Tumblr (I can't remember who, at the mo') made a good point; Rumple was in just as much danger as Regina. (Rumple himself actually makes this comment in an episode.) With his magic back, he's more powerful than his enemies. And, with his magic, he can still look for Bae.

Don't get me wrong; it wasn't the right thing to do. And I don't think he's only reason was self-preservation. He's still the same power-hungry "twisted little imp" that he was, and it's going to take a lot more than just getting Belle back for him to change. But him asking for magic makes sense, given the context of the situation and given what we know about his character.

IMO, it is because he is power-mad. Plus, he probably figured that, especially with the curse broken, he could find his son on his own.

I thought he was going to wish his son back too ! But magic is more important to him, I think and with magic, he will find Bae more easily, maybe ^^

He didn't specifically wish for ANYTHING. He told Belle the well is said to restore things that were lost. Bae's not a thing to be lost, like memories or magic.

Maybe it wouldn't work, because he did not lose Bae, but he let him go.
