Yep, I'm pretty sure it was Rumple she was thinking about. Seeing as she was never to fond of Gaston it wouldn't have been him she was thinking about.

I know, but I thought she might have had another lover before Gaston, or her engagement to Gaston tragically ended her relationship with this other lover

Yeah, you can tell it is after she left Rumplestiltskin because she is wearing the same dress. Also it is highly unlikely that they would have her talking about another love interest when we just saw her with Rumplestiltskin.
