"Featuring resonant turns from Kidman and Eckhart, Rabbit Hole refuses to be another melodramatic wallow through the dead-child blues. The tears it jerks are well-earned."
Nicole Kidman is a study in contrasts. She is at once Hollywood royalty, comfortable chatting over tea at Manhattan's swanky Peninsula hotel; an Oscar-winning actress known for her searing performances, and an all-American girl.
Kidman is the true standout here, outmatching Eckhart scene-by-scene to the point that it's almost a problem, but Wiest is also terrific in her quiet but key role.
"I've always contended that there's no such thing as a "flawless" film, but now I'm going to amend that phrase to read 'There's no such thing as a perfect film.' Because 'Rabbit Hole' is, as far as I can tell, pretty much flawless."
The Rabbit Hole premiere was sold out and received a standing ovation at the end.
Kidman’s performance recalls her great work in To Die For, a movie that her fans still cite as a cult favorite.”
