I'm fond of Lost in Translation, too, but it would've taken a long time (and over a dozen Godzilla films) before I would have thought of it. Also, at best I would say that a portion of "Kill Bill: Volume 1" takes place in Japan; so much of it takes place in the US that this would never have occurred to me as a fit for this question... posted over a year ago.
