BRILLIANT movie! i never get tired to watch it again...and christian bale's performance is BREATHTAKING!

Saving Private Ryan was an amazing movie.

Good question, and so many chooseable answers. But I have to pick the classic war movie with the memorable soundtrack.

Some war movies future pickers might want to add are:
-Schindler's List
-Apocalypse Now
-All Quiet on the Western Front
-The Pianist
-Three Kings
-Courage Under Fire
etc.

Schindler's List was fantastic. Just the music you hear on the DVD menu makes you want to burst into sobs!

Whew! It really depends on what you want from a war film, doesn't it? Do you want a film to show the violence of war? Or do you want an action film? Or do you want a romantic epic with war as its backdrop? Or do you want a film that shows the humanity of every side in the war? Each of those preferences has a very different, but equally good choice...or more than one choice. I personally think "Tora! Tora! Tora!" is the best film to show both sides, but I haven't seen the Clint Eastwood films yet.

Tora Tora Tora was amazing and if you have not seen it yet you should, I learned a lot. It was on this 4th of JUly and I watched it with my mom.!!!!!!!!!

As much as I lurve 3 kings, schindlers list, the last samurai, and saving private ryan, the great escape is a classic!

I cannot belive that noone added this one yet! this is one of my favorite movies of all time!

I loved this because it is very historical. The suffering, genocide, and all that stuff. And, I saw this in our history class. Reminds me of my teacher.:P Ralph Fiennes is great here.

well i love pearl harbor but we were soldiers and the patriot are also 2 of my favorite movies ever but i also love behind enemy lines

aw i gotta tell you this was hard. on one hand so many pearl harbor pic all jumble together. saving pvt ryan was 2nd to my full metal jacket with vincent d'onofrio my big love playin pvt gomer pyle a nickname that foulmouth F THIS & F that cAPTAIN OR sGT. GAVE VINCENT D'ONOFRIO'S CHARACTE. VINCENT PURPOSELY GAINED A LOTTA WEIGHT TO BECOME THIS POOR MENTALLY BATTERED RECRUIT.

Forrest Gump wasnt exactly a war movie but Im sure it would have been a great one if they focused the whole movie in Vietnam.

Twilight is not a WAR MOVIE! Just because the vampire's fight or whatever it doesnt mean it's a war movie. That's like saying Harry Potter's a war movie because they fight each other with wands!

If you haven't seen Band of Brothers then you've missed out! its made by steven speilberg and tom hanks ( who also did saving private ryan and the pacific) and i absolutely ADORE IT!!!! its actually a mini-series and the actors are so hot!

I don't like adding picks, but this just had to be done. What a great movie. Christoph Waltz is a genius.

The Pianist was just so, so sad and realistic. Roman really hut it high and Brody was just breathtaking!

Twilight does not have war! Even at the end when everyone was expecting war there was nothing. This is a pick about war... Please don't change it.

Amazing stuff. Also Schindler's List. And I love Atonement but the central story isn't regarding the war, it's just an aspect of it... So I went with a more war-centered movie. Inglorious Basterds is one of the best.
Also 'Downfall'

I hate movies based on war but I didn't just like Pearl Harbour I loved it!!!

There are war movies and anti-war movies in the list. I don't like war movies.
Full Metal Jacket is not a heroic epic about war, because war isn't epic.
Same goes for Jarhead and Apocalypse Now.
And to call Forrest Gump a war movie, hey, that's pretty nonsense.
