KataraLover picked Dorothy Dandridge:
Anna is beautiful but kind of weird looking and Dorothy is gorgeous and in my top 10 most beautiful women that ever lived.

I doubt many people know who these two women are. They were actresses in the same time period as Audrey Hepburn, Judy Garland, Marilyn Monroe, etc. and were also major groundbreakers. Dorothy was the first black person to ever be nominated for an Oscar for a leading role (Though she didn't win) and helped to make the way for future black people in Hollywood. Anna May Wong was very similar because of how she helped to pave the way for Asian people in Hollywood, although she wasn't as successful as Dorothy was because she had fewer leading roles than her and was never nominated for an Oscar. They both would try to avoid being typecast into the roles that were stereotypical during their time and they dazzled many. Anna would struggle later by being ridiculed by the Chinese for being too American (Even calling her a disgrace to the Chinese because of some of her movie roles) but was too Chinese for Americans for her to get a leading role. Both of these women could've had FAR better careers than they had but the only thing standing in the way of that for them was that they weren't white and lived in time where they preferred leads be black-faced or yellow-faced instead of actually casting people that actually were of that ethnicity. However, both were successful in helping to pave the way for future entertainers of their ethnicity and if it wasn't for them we might not have black people and Asians that could become big stars in Hollywood (Though it's still not perfect because racism has never died out completely).

If any of you wanna learn more about them, go to Youtube where you can find documentaries and bios about them, though there is more on Dorothy than there is Anna. There is also a movie about Dorothy's life called Introducing Dorothy Dandridge with Halle Berry starring in the role of Dorothy. That movie can also be found on Youtube in good quality without having to pay any money. So please go and educate yourselves on the lesser known Hollywood stars that are still played a HUGE part in making history.
