I remember visiting this website once...
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
Grab some cocoa and cozy up for some holiday romance.
It is a truth universally acknowledged that winter is a great time to watch and re-watch some incredible romantic comedies.
Clearly, there\'s something about the holiday season that makes you want to curl up under a blanket and not do anything that requires physical exertion. Of course, watching some great romantic comedies is a great way to spend your time on the couch. Although there\'s no shortage of Christmas-centered rom-coms, not all of them are worth watching more than once. We\'ve rounded up the best Christmas romantic comedies of all time, so you can snuggle up and relish in the joy brought on by these humorous and heartwarming fictional romances.
is one of Renée Zellweger\'s best rom-coms ever. Bridget\'s quest to find true love is often hilarious and embarrassing, but most of all, it\'s utterly delightful to watch. Plus, Colin Firth stars as the delectable Mark Darcy, and it\'s impossible not to freak out every time he pops up on screen. Like, seriously, that man is all kinds of beautiful. No one can rock an ugly Christmas sweater quite like Mr. Darcy, and he\'s got sass for days. What a man!
Most romantic quote: “I like you, very much. Just as you are.”
has an incredibly captivating and talented ensemble cast, and the nine intertwined stories range from comical to heartwarming to utterly romantic to downright depressing. This holiday rom-com also has one of the best airport chase scenes ever, courtesy of an adorable 12-year-old boy named Sam. There\'s also been much debate surrounding the cue card scene, and whether it\'s totally inappropriate. Which side are you on?
Most romantic quote: “It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often, it\'s not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it\'s always there.”
The combination of Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks is simply divine, and director Nora Ephron certainly knew it.
explores a wonderful romance that develops over e-mail and examines how an unlikely friendship can eventually blossom into one of the most romantic relationships in film history. Seriously, this movie is a must-watch, and it truly captures the essence of Christmastime in New York City. You\'ll be crying tears of joy by the end of it — unless, of course, your heart is made of stone.
Most romantic quote: “What will NY152 say today I wonder. I turn on my computer. I wait impatiently as it connects. I go online, and my breath catches in my chest until I hear three little words: You\'ve got mail. I hear nothing. Not even a sound on the streets of New York, just the beating of my own heart. I have mail. From you.”
and basically destroyed everyone\'s perception of real-life romance. Thanks a lot, you two! Not only does this movie feature a wonderful father-son relationship, it also has countless swoon-worthy moments thanks to Annie (Ryan) and Sam (Hanks). From the late night telephone calls to the top of the Empire State Building,
captures all the big and small moments that make rom-coms so special.
Most romantic quote: “When I met my wife, it was so clear. I just knew. I knew it the very first time I touched her. It was like coming home, only to no home I\'d ever known. I was just taking her hand to help her out of a cab. And it was like . . . magic.”
This charming romantic tale centers around a lonely woman named Lucy who saves the life of the man of her dreams and then accidentally becomes a part of his family. Romance takes an unexpected and thrilling turn in
, and this is definitely the best rom-com Sandra Bullock ever starred in. Lucy could easily be considered creepy or stalker-ish, but Bullock is so lovable and endearing that it\'s impossible to foster any negative feelings towards her. Also, Peter Gallagher\'s caterpillar-sized eyebrows are an added bonus!
Most romantic quote: “Peter once asked me when I fell in love with Jack. And I told him, \'It was while you were sleeping.\'”
Cute cottage just outside of London? Check. Extravagant mansion in Los Angeles? Check. In
both Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet experience everyone\'s dream holiday, and it\'s a joy to watch their stories unfold on screen. Rather than only focusing on idealized relationships,
also depicts the repercussions of long-term toxic romances. This charming Christmas rom-com will make you wish that every season was winter, and it even features a hilarious scene where Diaz belts out “Mr. Brightside.” If you\'ve never seen this movie, you need to watch it right now. Seriously.
Most romantic quote: “I have found almost everything ever written about love to be true. Shakespeare said, "Journeys end in lovers meeting." What an extraordinary thought.”
has become one of the go-to films of the holiday season. It has it\'s feel-good moments, but it also centers around complicated family dynamics that are easily amplified during family get-togethers. You\'ll laugh, you\'ll cry, and you\'ll even gasp at what a meanie Rachel McAdams can be. By the end, however, you\'ll end up falling in love with all the characters (even Sarah Jessica Parker\'s character, Meredith). Sure, this one\'s slightly more depressing than the regular Christmas rom-coms, but it\'s definitely worth a watch.
Most romantic quote: “You have a freak flag. You just don\'t fly it.”
is a wry coming-of-age story that remains one of Hugh Grant\'s best films to date. This is not your typical romantic comedy, considering the most important relationship in this movie is between a cynical man who refuses to grow up and a young boy who teaches him how to be an adult. Also, all of Nicholas Hoult\'s rapping and singing scenes are utterly sublime and a bit cringe-worthy. In the film, Hoult sports a haircut that kind of makes him look like an alien, but that\'s okay. We still love you, Marcus!
Most romantic quote: “Once you open your door to one person anyone can come in.”
