I don't make a habit of calling any guy a "gentleman". Mainly because there are so FEW gentlemen in the world these days. But out of all the men alive today there is probably nobody who comes closer to being a gentleman than G.W. Bailey. You may remember him as Captain Thaddeus Harris from the 'Police Academy' movies. But for me, my first impression of him was his role in the 1999 Biblical film 'Jesus'. I've thought fondly of him ever since I saw him in that movie. Sure he was slimy, greasy, unrepentant son of a bitch. And yet...there was something appealing about the guy. Something amusing. Something charming. I've also watched him other Biblical movies such as 'Solomon' and 'St. Paul'. I was pleased to learn that he was a very gracious man who signed autographs for fans and was very charitable. I find it interesting and charming that a man who plays such bastards onscreen is a total sweetheart in real life. Of course, I never met G.W. Bailey personally but by all accounts, he was pretty good person. There is a video on YouTube of him being interviewed by a little girl. It was the cutest thing! She was asking him questions like, "What kind of cookies do you like?" The whole time, he treated her with so much respect. It was very precious. He's one of my favorite celebrities ever. The only person better than him is Sal Mineo. But he's really nothing like Sal. For instance, I am not romantically attracted to G.W. Bailey. And he's not physically beautiful like Sal Mineo (though he was sorta good-looking back in the day). Anyway, I just wanted to tell the world how I feel about G.W. Bailey. Bless his heart.
