"Young human," A voice called. I heard a high pitched laughter as I looked around for the owner of the voice. "Down here."

I slowly looked down and saw a man no more then three feet tall, his long beard almost touching his feet. He smiled at me as he laughed, I assumed he had gotten this response before. To be completely honest, I wasn't sure if I should be afraid of him or pick him up and hug him.

I had just opened the side door when I heard something move on the back side of the barn. I figured it was just a barn cat, or something else and paid no attention to it. Driving down this road
like every other day before,
so familiar that I allow myself to daydream
knowing that I will make it home..
even without looking.
A song comes on the radio,
a song that makes me think of those I love
those that I may know in some ways
but do not in others.
A song that makes me smile,
A song that brings names and no faces
but that doesn't matter,
I don't need to see you to care about you
to know who you all really are.
In a world full of backstabbers,
of people who pretend to be what they are not

She was out of the truck in a second, running up the front steps and into the house without even a glance back. I followed her into the house, stopping in the living room as she turned and ran up the stairs and into the bathroom. She released her grip slowly, her fingers stiff from gripping the clutch for so long. She concentrated and was about to let go when she stooped where she was and gasped. I think he was going to say something when we both heard a large branch snap directly behind us, causing both of us to jump. We left the church at a snail's making sure that he was going slow and not tipping over the plants. Once we were out on the road though he sped up to a 'normal' speed, the plants shifting slightly in the truck bed. We had just pulled into the driveway when Quil stopped, the strangest look on his face.

I saw her pull into the driveway, pulling up to her usual spot where the bikes were hidden. I saw her get out, her eyes huge as she realized what was parked next to her car. She was laughing softly as she pulled on one of the ribbons as I ran out of the house, doing my best not to run full speed.

Once she had the lasagna assembled and in the oven we made our way into the living room, both of us sprawling out on the floor, piles of books all over. We talked and joked as we did our homework, occasionally helping each other when we could.
