Gaius’ relationship with Merlin was very much like a father-son relationship. He advised him, reassured him, taught him values, and was overall always there for him. I’m just so glad he had him, because as we know, Merlin grew up without a father, so having Gaius at his side must have been so comforting for him. And Merlin was like the son he never had. He really did care a lot about him.

But here’s the thing : Gaius was also a father figure to Arthur and Gwen. Remember how he would always ask Gwen what was wrong, he would always try to make her feel better, and he would always give her hope about her relationship with Arthur ( yes, Gaius shipped Arwen ❤️ ). And same thing with Arthur. He basically saw him grow up, and always helped him throughout his journey to become King. Also, Arthur and Merlin were just like brothers, constantly teasing each other, bickering, calling each other names...So it’s kind of hilarious to think that Gaius was like their father 😂

Gaius deserves more recognition. He was the father/grandpa of the show. ❤️
