I'm not sure if anyone will think this to be worthy of being a Soapbox Article, but it is something that I wanted to share.
It's a short poem that I wrote a long time ago, which has words that I was only guessing about at the time.
I've discovered them to be very true for maintaining a good relationship, but it needs to be followed by both people.
Anyways, one day we were given the task of writing a four line poem in one of my English classes in high school. It had to be something meaningful, but we could pick the subject.
It doesn't have a title, but here it is:

Design with thy heart
And learn to share
For love is an art
Which needs much care

It's important for both people to pay attention to the needs of the other, and to make sure that both of you share. Whether it be talking, hugging, dealing with problems, etc., you should both be there for each other.
If you don't like something, talk about it. It's better to have compromises, then to have either of you try to change each other into someone you are not.
If you try to force a change, you might not be happy with it, and the person you tried to change might look elsewhere because of it.
Try to take things one day at a time, and don't forget about compassion. Try to put yourself in your partner's shoes when you talk to each other. Listen to what they are saying, and if you don't completely understand something, ask... just don't phrase it in a way that may sound judgemental, or you may get shut out. Let them know that you care and want to understand.
Love can be a two-way street, and you should be trying to travel in the same vehicle... not in ones headed toward each other in a collision.

“Ok, dear, see you soon” I hung up and entered my house.
I spent some time helping my mom with some house work and at 3 pm, I started preparing my costume for a concert. Natalie showed up at 4 pm. I prepared some fresh and my door bell rang. I rushed to open the door. But my mom already opened it. Natalie was whispering something to my mom. When she noticed me, she made a poker face and my mom turned to me:
“So, Lily, you’re going to spend 2 days at Natalie’s. I’ll ask dad to drive you both. But don’t stay long at night and don’t drink any alcohol, ok?” And she went to the kitchen....

Have you ever had that best friend, the one you've known since atleast kindergarten? The one who's a boy? That one person you go to when everything is wrong, the one you cry to. Well I do. But as much as I wish it not to be true, I love him, more than a friend. And what amazes me is EVERYONE knows it but HIM. Everyone trys getting us to go out, but HE doesnt know it. Well this is how I see the whole situation. I'm in eighth grade. I've been best friends with a boy since before elementry school. And i've liked him since 6th grade. Whats funny is everyone but him is aware i like him and is set...

“Only once in your life, I truly believe, you find someone who can completely turn your world around. You tell them things that you’ve never shared with another soul and they absorb everything you say and actually want to hear more. You share hopes for the future, dreams that will never come true, goals that were never achieved and the many disappointments life has thrown at you. When something wonderful happens, you can’t wait to tell them about it, knowing they will share in your excitement. They are not embarrassed to cry with you when you are hurting or laugh with you when you make...
