No matter what do NOT be casual about it. If you choose to do it, do it like this, "Jennifer, would you like to go on a date with me to the burger joint?" Something like that. MAke it clear that it's a date. You might get a higher risk of being rejected, but that would be a lot better than you leaning in for a kiss when she doesn't even know it's a date, not just two friends getting a bite to eat before a movie.
