Why would a guy flirt with a girl all weekend and then the week later tell them that they have a girlfriend?

I haven't seen this guy in three years. Well, I saw him for the first time in three years a couple weeks ago. It's a long story on why I finally saw him again, but I did. Our families spent a weekend together and he was flirting with me the whole time...and I admit I flirted back. (He even attempted to play Bella's Lullaby from Twilight for me! How sweet...he couldn't but he was really sorry he didn't get it for me.] So I started liking him.
Then a week later my friend called him for no reason. Then she hung up and he texted me saying 'who was that?' So I said 'oh sorry that was my friend' And he replied 'lol, tell her I said she's hot' So I told her and her reply was 'uh thanks, but im taken' And then he texted me back saying 'tell her I've never seen her and I have a gf'
Now I am heartbroken because he knew he was flirting with me the week before and he also knew I would now know he had a girlfriend! So now I'm wondering if he already had a girlfriend before that weekend or if he got one after. I don't know wat to think! Please help me. </3

When I first meet a guy, I always put up a barrier wall to make sure that I never hurt or get my hopes up. It's sad, but it may be something you have to do also. Maybe this guy, isn't such a great guy. Most guys flirt with any girl they can talk to. It's sad. But maybe he was a good guy and he liked you, but found someone else. I think it is easier for men to not get so attached as women do. We have to be careful and be aware of how much our hearts can be broken by just one guy. I hope this is good advice for you. well, He is either lying about the girl freind because you said that the girl who he thinks is ott is taken... don't you think he would hav brought it up that weekend. Also you don't have to wait for hime doing nothin, get out there, you don't have to remain single while you're waitin for him, then maybe after you've had other relationships, maybe he will feel the same way about you... Well, like I said, I haven't seen him in about 3 years. I don't think he would tell me his life story. And you're right, but I doubt he will. Thanks anyway! ~♥~
