Commitment phobic!!

I have a huge crush on a boy that is a commitment phobic. I know he likes me because he said it himself. We slow danced at a school dance, and I wanted him to ask me out but then I realized he's a commitment phobic. I wanted to know that if he likes me and I like him why he's so afraid of commitments... And if there was anyway I could help him. He's had a really bad experience with relationships but I think that with how this is that maybe it would be good for him... I don't know what to do without sounding demanding because I don't want to hurt him.
