I got asked out to the ball...

Ok, so I'm in my final year of high school and the ball is just around the corner. This guy who I used to talk to a lot last year (but haven't even seen him this year) just came up to me today and we caught up since we hadn't seen each other in a long time.
Long story short, he asked me out to the ball. I do like the guy, but the problem is that I never wanted to go to the ball in the first place. At my school, the tradition is that the only stuff that goes down at the ball is people get wasted and get laid >.>
I just told him that I still haven't decided on going to the ball, but he said he's still going to hold on to that offer he's proposing.

Arggg I dunno what to do. I like him, but I just realllllly don't want to go to the ball! Any ideas?
