Honestly, I don't think you should care about the age. 2 years is almost nothing. And I really don't think people can't be together just because they don't have the same age. (Plus, love is not something we can choose, I'd say "it's unfortunately").
If he doesn't want to be with you because of that, tell him the age is not important. That little girls/boys can be mature, whereas old woman/man could be childish. The age is like an imprecise measure.
