LUCAS: Come on. Let me give you a ride. I'll let you insult me.
PEYTON: First of all, you don't know me. Second of all, you don't know me.
LUCAS: You ever have something that you knew that you were better at than almost anybody else?
PEYTON: Sex?... Joke.
PEYTON: So, why'd you just tell me all that? I mean, we don't even know each other.
LUCAS: Maybe that's the point.
PEYTON: Nice hands.
LUCAS: Nice legs.
PEYTON (to Lucas): I want to draw something that means something to someone. You know, I want to draw blind faith or a fading summer or just a moment of clarity. It’s like when you go and you see a really great band live for the first time, you know, and nobody’s saying it but everybody’s thinking it: "We have something to believe in again." I want to draw that feeling. But I can’t. And if I can’t be great at it then I don’t want to ruin it. It’s too important to me.
LUCAS (to Peyton): Your art matters. It’s what got me here.
PEYTON: Guess I just... I just want to say thanks.
LUCAS: Wow. Did Peyton Sawyer just say "thank you"?
LUCAS: Why do you stay with him, anyway?
PEYTON: ‘Cause sometimes it’s good. Sometimes there’s no one else.
LUCAS: How you doing?
PEYTON: Let's see. I broke up with my boyfriend. My mom’s dead. And my dad’s away on a job.
LUCAS (to Peyton): It’s kind of ironic, huh? You know, I would gladly erase my dad if it would bring back your mom.
PEYTON: Haven’t seen you much today.
LUCAS: Yeah, I know. Every time I get within about five feet of you-
PEYTON: Brooke happens.
LUCAS: Or Nathan.
PEYTON: I’m sorry.
LUCAS: For what?
PEYTON: All sorts of things.
LUCAS (to Peyton): I wasn’t ready for all that Peyton Sawyer/Girlfriend drama anyway. (LIAR!!!)
PEYTON: Lucas, I made a mistake. When you said you wanted to be with me, I got, I got scared, but...
LUCAS: Peyton...
PEYTON: But the truth is, I want all the same things that you want, I do. And I want them with you.
PEYTON (to Lucas): Why does it seem like everytime things are finally going to be okay, something terrible happens?
PEYTON: After my mom died, my dad couldn’t cook. So, we lived on frozen pizzas for the longest time. I could live on pizza. He’d buy these cheese pizzas, and then put his own toppings on. Pickles, bologna, pineapple, whatever.
LUCAS: That’s nasty.
PEYTON: No actually they were really good. I think he did it mostly just to make me laugh.
LUCAS: See? It does mean something.
PEYTON: It can’t.
LUCAS: But it does.
PEYTON: Lucas, you’re dating Brooke.
LUCAS: I know. And she’s great. Okay? But, she’s not you. =]
PEYTON: We’re going to hell.
LUCAS: Peyton...
PEYTON: No honestly, we are horrible, rotten people.
LUCAS: Do you think that’s part of it?
PEYTON: Part of what?
LUCAS: Us. You know, that this is wrong. Somehow it makes it feel deeper.
LUCAS: Well life’s short, Peyton.
PEYTON: Too short to live it as a bad person.
PEYTON: Do you want to go together? Not like a date or anything.
LUCAS: Okay how exactly does that work?
PEYTON: Let’s see, we don’t make out. But we don’t argue. I think we kind of just have fun.
LUCAS: Look, I didn’t know about Nikki and Jake until I met her.
PEYTON: So she was just some stranger in a bar you slept with? Lucas, you don’t need to apologize. Okay? It’s just that, after all the stuff that you and I had been through, where my head and my heart were at I couldn’t have gone and just slept with some stranger. You know when you and I first met? I was with Nathan. And he was a pretty bad guy, if you remember.
LUCAS: Yeah.
PEYTON: I’m not doing that again. Who knew that you two would switch places?
PEYTON: It’s not about what you say, Luke. It’s about what you do. You don’t like the person you’ve become? Then do something about it, 'cause no one’s going to do it for you.
LUCAS: I know, that’s why I came by. I’m going to be making a few changes. And I just wanted to see you before I do. I’ll be seeing you, Peyton.
